Argh: Valve cover bolt broke....
Ok, I did a routine valve alignment job, and as I was retorquing all the valve
cover bolts, the furthest TOP LEFT bolt just kept on turning.
How BAD is it to drive on this condition? All the other bolts are on nice and
to specs.

Happens all the time. Just get a new stud from the dealer. They are easy to replace.
I think you are supposed to torque the nuts to 7ft-lb or less... for the future

Re: Argh: Valve cover bolt broke.... (redline)
That happened to me. My problem was not the bolt, but the hole in the head that it screws into. Mine managed to crack and hence, I was not able to torque the bolt at all. I tried to JB weld it, didn't work. The only machine shops that are trustowrthy to work on it won't do so with the head in the car. And I did not feel like taking off my head just to get a new metal piece welded on and tapped, so I plugged the hole and put the Hondabond a little extra thick around the valve cover.
I hope the same thing did not happend to you. But the bolts are steel, and the head is aluminum. I'm wagering that your bolt is fine and the hole is stripped/cracked.

yea its normal. i broke one too. the other end of the bolt is still in the hole too. you can run it like that... its all good. usually it doesnt leak. just get a new bolt and retap it into the same hole. they got a tool that pulls out the stuck piece. the bolt cost $5? i forgot. it was expensive considering it came from the dealer. but overall, for what you broke... its not expensive. better than breaking the valve cover itself and buying a new one for alot more.
