Apexi WS for my turbo ??
alright boys, I'm finally building my setup.
I have a port and polished B18B with ARP head stub, everything else is stock.
GT28R Turbo
I always wanted to get a Apexi World Sport Exhaust system, but I'm not too sure if it's the best setup for my turbo anymore.
I'm aiming for about 250whp.
and maybe, MAYBE in the future I'll build my engine and crack up the boost.
so what exhaust do you guy recommend for my turbo setup ?

i believe the ws exhaust piping is 2.36in, which is a little to restrictive for a turbo car imo. i would go with a 3" or at least 2.5" with a canister type muffler like the apexi N1

Re: Apexi WS for my turbo ?? (7k rdlne)
I wanted the WS, cause I don't want it loud.
I know the N1 is one of the loudess exaust out there, but with the turbo.. would it still be stupid loud ?

They make an 80mm (3.15") universal Apex'i WS2 muffler. I've got one on my Prelude and it's fairly quiet for a straight through muffler, it's really deep sounding. I ended up buying the 3" Kteller pipe kit and a 26" resonator and it works well
I've got some crappy video clips from my digi-cam if you're interested.

How do you know it's VERY restricting and major power loss? Did you actually compare dyno numbers or anything to other free flow exhaust? I know the straight thru exhaust is better for turbo but unless you have a big power(230+ whp) the difference is a minimal. Well, if you think 5whp is a BIG, then...
Just my 2cent...

i made 240 whp with my setup... then i switched to the APexi... never dynoed it.. but it was less... and trust me.. i wouldnt notice if it was 5whp... come on now

Don't trust your butt dyno. It's just your feeling, not the real number. There is no the hell like 20whp different just catback swap. Maybe 10 at the most but I don't think so. Most of aftermarket catback only gains 5~10whp over the stock, I said the stock. So going from WS to other bigger catback is not huge different.

an NA setup maybe.. but a boosted motor needs a bigger exhaust... very little makes a big difference

Maybe 5-10 hp on an N/A setup.....
but on a turbo setup any backpressure at all is your enemy. Apexi WS is a chambered muffler...if you have a boosted setup spinning at 7k+ RPM let it breathe for god sakes

so what is out there that not restrictive and not really loud ?
I know my buddy has a DC exhaust and with his turbo, you can barely hear it. almost stock.

Re: (Daniel-sanB1)
I would say get a 3'' kteller exhaust.....a 14'' resonator, and an OBX 3'' greddy evo style muffler.
Should sound great. I have the obx evo style muffler on my n/a b16 right now (welded on apexi 2.36'' piping) and it sounds awesome.

Bubs, could you direct me where I could get that 3" exhaust setup. I got the A'pexi WS Turbo Exhaust, but no piping. Any help will be awesome. (For a 95 ex 2-dr coupe). Thanks in advance.

Re: Apexi WS for my turbo ?? (jonnycivic819)
the 3" kteller + es oval is a good set up but I promise any 3" is going to have a drone and will be loud. Some people just have more of a tolerance for it. I sure as hell hated it. When I do it again I will be getting at least 2 resonators.
Will 3" help you from the WS? sure as hell will, but if you are aiming for 250 whp I wouldnt worry about it too much. It will slow down full spool by maybe 300-500 rpms is my estimated guess.
I would just get a 2.5 in and be done with it
