Re: A'pexi Power FC (MiraiZ)
On your setup I would go fully standalone. The Power FC is a good unit but it get played out from a real standalone IMO
Power FC only has a 8mhz processor
Haltec, Motec are using a 32mhz & 32bit (Motorola I think) processor
Also a more accurate a/f tuning is possible with a real standalone.

Re: A'pexi Power FC (MiraiZ)
I think it is working like Hondata and it is using the stock ECU and piggybacking it. But I´m not 100% sure.
Check this out: http://www.200sx.org/ecudata.html
oops sorry! The Power FC and Haltech are only at 16 mhz
When you compare carfully you can read that the APexi has no datalogging, but datalogging is imoportant IMO

No its not a piggy back...its a stand alone ECU with an optional command module that allows you change the parameters on any engine setting you want. I just want to know if anyone uses one and what they think of it

Datalogging for the P-FC is available now! A normal user can tune the P-FC just like a Power Excel shop and they can unlock all of the items that the Power Excel software/hardware locks. The software and interface box is made by a couple Rotorhead (RX-7 guys) in Australia. It will be available for all P-FC users soon.
I guess that 8mhz processor is turbo charged because there are a lot of 1000hp GTR's and Supra's that are controlled by P-FC's over here.

Re: A'pexi Power FC
who here has the powerfc thats talking about it?
i actully have one.. its done everything ive needed.. it doesn't have the wide band auto-fuel-ratio thing that speedpro/aem (supposedly) has. i'm told the internal boost controller isn't very accurate so i went with a blitz. the main reason why i like it is because of the hand held programmer that you can make adjustments to on the dyno with the car running
i know if i dont praise hondata that you people will flame me.. so here goes.. the hondata 4b system was great, if they could only get rid of the clunky programming..
powerfc + fc commander is like $1150 and is its own standalone ecu.. runs a/c and everything

Another reason was because my car is OBDI and the PowerFC only works on OBDII, correct? Might as well put my stock ecu to work
I also have seen quite a few people go from the PowerFC to Hondata or Haltech. I have never seen them post why though.

Re: A'pexi Power FC (austrian type-R)
the power-fc is closer to a race ecu that almost everything else, including AEM and Hondata. A true race ECU allow you to make changes under full load (real-time), which the power-fc does but the previuos two do not. (speedpro does and i believe the haltech also)
the power-fc is a nice unit but has limited PC interface capabilites due to apexi's decision not to make power excel available to customers.

nopers.. on the P-FC being closer to a Real Standa alone than the AEM EMS and Hondata. The EMS is a real stand alone that is based of of a Motec ECU. The Hondata allows for base map rewrites! The P-FC uses correction maps to make changes to the base map. Please do a little more research!
Uchina is Okinawa in the Okinawan dialect! Are you fart suckers going to the the GP is April? MiraiZ and Dave!!

Re: A'pexi Power FC (drealgsr)
the AEM ecu is made by http://www.gems.co.uk/ i talked to a guy from gems in the uk and he said specificly that AEM was their us distributer, thats all..
powerfc can be rewritten by xs-engineering but theres no need to change the base maps anyway. if your that bent on changing base maps without XS then wait for that rx7 guy to release datalogit http://geocities.com/fdkaimember/data-log_100m.html

i have had my power fc for a couple of months now and my opinion is that IT RULES!i have 720cc injectors and it runs like it came with a turbo.i am going to the dyno soon and expect 450-500whp!to top it all off,it still gets 20mpg in the city and i drive it every day.i had a haltech before and had lots of problems because of the complexity of it.it got about 12-15 mpg.the power fc is very simple and i love it!

Well.....I´m sorry to hear that you had troubles with the Haltech. MY unti works just fine. But it is a bit hard when you do the install first time.

Re: A'pexi Power FC (drealgsr)
drealgsr,
Where do you keep getting that Motec crap from. The base maps on Power-FC can be edited using Power Excel. The fact still remains that a true race ECU needs real-time programming. You do some research my friend.

Re: A'pexi Power FC (philo)
Philo get some reading comprehension! I never said the P-FC base maps can not be edited with the Power Excel info. What I did say was that the P-FC can now be completely tuned w/o the Power Excel selfishware.
If you have a true race car then a true dedicated race ECU is needed. I have been playing with P-FC's and HKS F-CON's for more than 4 years so please don't tell me that I need to do more research.

Re: A'pexi Power FC (philo)
look..I didn't start this post to create a flame fest...I wanted someone who KNOWS or OWNS a Power FC to give me their impression. I don't give a flying rat's @$$ about whether Hondata, Motec, Haltec is better or not. I want to know the overall results and usage of the FC. BUT anyways...for those who gave straight answers ...thanks!
