Apexi D series turbo kit
i just saw this on the groupbuycenter for 1200. I can't believe how cheap it is on there. i was thinking of buying a used greddy kit, but this sounds even better. What would i need to run the stock boost with this kit? i know i would need an intercooler and bov. Also does it come with any fuel management? and if not is there anyway a cheap greddy blue box would work because thats probably all i could afford for a while. also what kind of numbers could i expect on the stock boost? thanx guys. I haven't really heard much info on this kit before.

so do you think i could use the greddy blue box for fuel managment or wouldn't that be enough?

For the price of the apexi kit you would be dumb as hell to get the greddy. I dont know how apexi can sell that kit so cheap because a fewmonths ago it was retailing for $2200 without intercooler. Actually 2 weeks ago a friend of mine picked the apexi kit up with intercooler for $2600 and that was a really good deal. So if i were in your situation I would be picking one of these up asap. If money is tight BUY A BOV before a intercooler. Without the intercooler you will be able to run stock boost.

i'm only worried because my budget is tight. I would have enough for bov, but the intercooler might be out of my range and i'm would run unintercooled, but it is getting close to summer now and i am worried about the excess heat which will probably slow me down a lot.

K you wanna go cheap? Find your self a 1gen dsm bov the metal ones not the plastic. You can pick one up nomore then $50. Then find yourself a starion intercooler for under $150 and your done except for some modifications. Wanna go cheaper pick your self up a audi or dsm side mount intercooler for $50-$75. For fuel system I say go with a vortech fmu/inline fuel pump and a fpr. I mean thats really budget boost right there. If you stay stock boost with the apexi kit and get yourself a bov I really think your going to be fine in the summer. You will lose hp without the intercooler when its really hot though but I really dont see any side effects other then detonation but if your stock boost you should be k.......

Re: Apexi D series turbo kit (SOHC_MShue)
I'm running the apexi kit on my B18B and have been for several months now. The kit made 240hp and 227tq on a very untuned 10psi. I've had the greddy kit and it is a piece of dog **** compared to the Apexi. That IHI turbo is a very hi tech turbo that will flow as well as a T3 and puts down better numbers than an 18G.
The blue box will work beautifully as long as you don't go past 7psi and you retard your base timing a few degrees.
This is the cleanest kit I've ever seen. A true bolt on.

Did you just move the apex turbo to a B series manifold? As far as i know apex doesn't even make a B series turbo kit. Do you know how many CFM's the IHI turbo makes. I'm asking cause i'm gonna to LS this summer and i want to move my apex kit from my d16 to the B18b

Would it fit a d16y8?
Edit: Nevermind I just read the GB and it does.

Re: Apexi D series turbo kit (Happyman)
the b series kit should be available any moment now from what i heard. some dude up north is running it on his teg or something. i forgot the shop but they already have kits in stock if you're interested. its the same turbo as the sohc but i imagine that with proper tuning it'd produce a nice power upgrade for a street setup.
imo. fit and finish is A+

Re: Apexi D series turbo kit (domslude)
one would still have to buy the bov, fuel managment, and all the other stuff, so it would be more expensive then say a maxrev. If i'm not worried about customizing, ie I don't need a true bolt on, is it still that great of a kit, when you spend substatially more then the maxrev, but then again, I could get the new chip that this one guy on here is making. I have been following up on that, and then I could program my fuel maps and stuff my self, would take some careful learning, and time at the dyno wheel though......... decisions, decisions, decisions.
