Personally I would go with oversized pistons and bore the block out. You're looking at saving maybe 150 bucks by not boring it out, and I believe that being able to setup your bore size perfectly to get the correct piston-to-wall clearance is a key factor in having a strong, healthy motor.

What power are you aiming for?
And yes, i've gotta agree with getting oversized pistons! Gotta be done if your building a forged engine for boost!
What about bearings? Don't forget about them whilst the engines open. I replaced the oil and water pump on mine too whilst it was in being worked on, just for peace of mind

Larger injectors and a fresh bore as mentioned. If you only plan on boosting it 8psi I'd upgrade to 10:1 compression. It'd be funner to drive and would be no problem for a good tuner.

nothing wrong with keeping it lower compression, something like 9.0:1 will be fine and you will have more margin for error if you wanna go bigger. Trust me, its something that will happen eventually

the block has a fresh hone, and all the rings have good clearences. So on my set up, what would be the most boost i can run? about 15lbs?

if it has a fresh hone.. but stock bore usually when its done they take 2 or 3 thousands off? or you do it your self? you could be safe running more then that with a good tune

well it was all done by a machine shop. i took the block in along with the parts, they honed it, sized the rings, checked clearences, balanzed the crank, and assembled it.

Does he really need an AM map sensor if he is only doing 8 psi?
