Default Anyone strip threads on exhaust housing?

Well, the threads that should bolt up my downpipe to my turbo are all FUBAR. What are my options to get them fixed?

I really don't want to helicoil them, due to cost. I was thinking maybe i could put studs in 2 or 3 of the 5 bolts? If you have any experience with this or any information that could help please post. Thanks!

I had that problem, ran a tap through them to clean them up and got a little longer bolts, works great.

My problem is there are no threads left in the holes. I can't just screw a stud in, and they are bad enough that a tap isn't going to help at all.

I try to be a DIYer as much as I can. I don't understand how he is gonna retap it, when there are no threads at all? What exactly would he be doing to fix it, cause chances are I can do it too, saving some money and time.

Having threads doesn't have anything to do with tapping the hole...

Technically, if you've got threads, you're chasing the threads, not tapping them anyway. You would be tapping to a size up from what you were originally using. In this case, there's no point in trying to repair it back to the original size with something like a helicoil.
