just like it says i want to paint my exhaust housing because its looking dingy, and the exhaust side of the housing. if you have done it what kind of paint did you use and could you post pics please.

I think I would be intersted in knowing also. Are there any downsides to painting it and how long would it last?

I don't know of any paint that would stand up to the heat.. I've seen exhaust housings glow red before. You can have them coated by a company like Polydyn pretty cheap, I think I paid about 100-150 bucks for the inline pro manifold and turbine housing

I've been thinking about that myself. I don't think even the HT paints would stand up to the heat. Paeco's doing something they call a jet coat that looks interesting. I don't know that much about it, but I believe it's a liquid metal coating.

i always paint my manifolds and turbines with 1500deg VHT paint. stops rust and works great!

exactly, I spent a few hours sanding it and hitting it with a wire wheel. a couple cans of brake cleaner too. should hold up nice. well see, it will be on a friends car soon

two hours with 40 grit and 100 grit did the trick for me!!

U can get it from Orielly's around here, but its like 6.99 a can there. I bought my first can at some small family shop an it was only like 3.99. I would go back there but its about 20 miles from my house. whats full-race?

i just got a can of it from napa, i bought some sandpaper so im gonna go to work on the exhaust mani. what about the exhaust side of the turbo anyone use it there? if so how did you prep it?

Sandblaster, brake cleaner, and VHT flame proof is all ya need!

But...I'm probably leaving the new mani alone since it's stainless, but I am getting the turbine housing coated.

my exhaust mani was boosted for about 2k mile then sat i prepped the **** out of it last night, im gonna get some brake cleaner and a steel brush today im gonna paint it tomorrow. i wanna see the exhaust housing on a turbo painted though

I had my HF exhaust mani coated 3 times with DEI silicon exhaust paint. Rated at 1500. Drove for about a year, daily, and it looked just as good as it did when I put it on.
