Default anyone out there running a gt3071?

just curious there are quite a few VW's running this turbo but i haven't seen any over here in the honda world

would like to see a dyno chart and know what your setup is

im not actually running this turbo but have been doing a lot of reading about it. the 3071r is a bit smaller than the 3037 aka 3076r. the 3037 is def gonna be my next turbo and i believe its the best turbo for any street car looking to make 450-500whp (maybe more).

from doing some research over at evans-tuning and on here ive learned alot. muckman had a good post a while back https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1545133 he posted some links to graphs that really helped.

also this post http://forums.evans-tuning.com...gt30r discusses the differences between the three gt30r models.

most of this info pertains more to the 3037 but i think it can help you out. i think the 3071 isnt as popular because it supports less power with only slightly better spool time. and doesnt provide as good of a power band. also the slightly larger 3040 is spooling later for only little to no power increase.

also i just noticed that you can get the 3071 internally wastegated and it has the t25 inlet. that might have something to do with why the vw guys like it. i dunno what turbos they run stock but maybe they use the 3071 as direct bolt-in upgrade.

come on guys i know someone out there has to be running this turbo, i would love to see how it would do with a .78 split tang. ex. housing.........i'm thinking close to a 28rs spool with the availability for more topend

plus the main reason VW's like this turbo is that it is capable of about 450whp on what amounts to a LS in the honda world the vw 1.8t is and the LS is probably the best comparision of the VW motor and a honda motor

we in the VW world could spend about 2-3 grand on cams porting and solid lifters then it would be about like a gsr motor , but there aren't to many willing to drop that much cash on headwork

Go search and ask on the S2ki forums. Some of the original Lovefab dynos used the GT3071R. There are a lot of dyno charts and information over there. It seemed to spool very quickly and have a flat torque curve all the way to redline.

Some SR20DET guys use 'em, it's basically like a 2871R with a bit faster spool than the 0.86 A/R T2 flange 2871R, a bit slower than the 0.64 A/R. It'll hold about 400-420rwhp on that engine with a 0.63 A/R and give about a 3.5k RPM powerband.

No idea on a Honda since you guys seem to run really large turbine housings which give a hair more of the peak number but way lower torque values because the boost is about half of what a stout engine can run.

Not only that, but we just don't have the displacement for the torque, but great engine design for higher flow.

From what I've found about this turbo so far specifically was that it is VERY similar to the HKS 2835 turbo. But the subtlties are like that of the GT3076 and GT3037. (They are not the same turbo, contrary to popular belief. The GT3037 was a -11 52 trim compressor wheel, while your standard GT3076 uses a -12 56 trim compressor wheel. Subtle, but different).

From the 2 honda guys I know that use this application, it was a bit more top end than the GT2871, but didn't have the nice midrange and upper torque band of the GT2871. But its not bad. SR20DET guys can utilize the much smaller turbine exhaust housings better than the hondas in general.

I believe there are some honda dyno graphs made by someone about a honda comparison b/w the 2. But that is best point of reference here on THIS forum..

so the 3076 flows more? i always thought they were the same. the two different labeling systems get pretty damn confusing.
