How much power are you making that it would require a 4" exhaust?

It isn't required at whatever power level he's making. We made almost 900 RWHP on a single 3" downpipe on a friends car.

I don't know if a 4" exhaust is appropriate for unknown0304's setup or not, but there are certain applications where a 4" exhaust is beneficial. The most common being on the turbo street class cars (NHRA Sport FWD, IDRC Pro-AM FWD, etc.) making 600-700+ hp, but are required to run full exhaust. I love how all of these internet "experts" feel the need to put in their two cents. Not one of the responses in this thread answers the original poster's question, although Full-Race Geoff at least offered some useful insight. To answer the question, I did the 3.5" exhaust on my car. I'm thinking about redoing it in 4" aluminum since aluminum seems to be the new hotness in Sport FWD. Just have to get some flanges cut. Unfortunatey I'm in California so I wouldn't be able to help unknown0304 out.

Thanks tyler for the response. People have told me that a 3" gets restrictive after 550hp. im just trying to find out what route i want to take b/c i hate buying things twice(i dont want to buy a 3" then have to go bigger)

More feed back would be great

also this is going on a FR T3/T67(all supporting mods) 81.5mm b18c5 street(weekend)car

Man it is really funny how fast these new trend's get going. Arturbo and I did the research about 2 months ago for aluminum exhaust. The info only leaked onto honda-tech this weekend, and everyone is already jumping on the bandwagon. heh.

So what is the deal with aluminum exhaust? Besides light weight, what advantage does it offer? I'd imagine it would cool the exhaust off a lot. Can it handle the heat, or can you only do it a good distance from the turbo.
