My NuFormz has been in for a year now, and I've had no cooling problems either.

I had a roadraceengineering one in my car a while back and had no cooling problems. My friend has an STR and it looks like it would work great, no personal experience though.

mine's custom built from a piece of 9mm thick aluminium

works great - I have had no heating problems whatsoever, and I live in a much hotter climate than what you guys do..

i had one in my old B18C shortblock too and my D16Y8 when it was turbocharged - no problems at all.

B20B blockguard..

I just got a turbo block guard off of ebay and i just had a shop weld it in a few millimeters below the top of the block. i'll be putting my motor back together this weekend so i'll let you guys know how it goes. it's a pretty thick block guard so i'm wondering if it'll cause any heating problems.

Heard many good things about STR's blockguards. No personal experience however. I think they're hard to find nowadays.

I have an str blockguard, never had any overheating problems, didn't weld it in, i called them, they said not to b/c they tend to want to settle (sink) anyway.

i ran an old RACE eng block gaurd in my d16 and had no problems, took off the head adn set it in.

I now have a str block gaurd that i put in before the boring, I liek the design of the STR better than the RACE. buts thats just my opinion,

I hvaent started the motor yet so i cant speak of any issues as of yet.

I was readinghttps://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=449315I
I know most say "your suppose to weld it in first, then bore and hone the block to make it fit as perfect as you can without distorting the shape",

thats why I wouldn't do it - for all that trouble I'd rather just sleeve the block.

But if I could just use a rubber malet and hammer it in I would get one. Any success stories with it just hammered in and the head put back on with no machining done?

I hammered mine in, no problems for about 6 months now *knock on wood* I dont know if I would suggest doing it that way, but I figure if something goes wrong i'll just goto the junkyard and pick another d-series motor for cheap. If I had a more expensive motor I would have never done it that way...

I got the STR style one. Couldn't find the nuformz style so I just went with whatever was avaible. Can't afford to have my car out of commision for too long. But I have a question for everyone. How much did it cost you guys to have your block gaurds welded into your blocks?? It costed me $175!!!! cause I asked them to drill larger holes and do a complete weld about 5 or so milimeters from the top of the block.

Just wanted to update everyone...i had my blockguard welded about 5-6 millimeters from the top of the block and so far i've got close to 200 miles on the motor and no over heating. the motor started right up on the first time(rebuilt the whole motor) and to my surprise, NO SMOKE!! wow, my mechanics did a great job!! I'm using a STR look alike block guard but it's about 2/3's thicker than the regular STR one. this was the reason why i was somewhat afraid of overheating.

After looking at the new STR I found a flaw in the design.. There is no reinforcement at the back of the sleeve, where you need the support most. Ive already seen a block fail with the new STR design.

My vote is for the GE.
