well actually i was just thinking that maybe i should just get a sheet and have it rolled at a local chassis shop. Then I could do whatever size I want for future projects and not have to worry about the cost flucuating. If I had it rolled we could just weld it here and then section weld.

As for what I want it for right now, its a intake tube for a T04S cover SC61 in a MR2.

Why would Aluminum be a better choice when you are specifically looking for Titanium?

I doubt he is searching for 4" Titanium tubing for intercooler pipe ... he is probably looking to weld a 4" Ti exhaust -- aluminum is never recommended for the exhaust systems because it won't hold up...

I already said its for an intake tube. AKA the pipe that goes from the air filter to the turbo inlet.

Titanium is of choice for bling factor here. There is not enough length to notice any weight loss. Its purely for fashion.

OMFG you have got to be kidding me. The ****** intake tube is not going to burn. Not only that but I have played with Titanium a lot, including using a torch to play with the coloring and getting it white hot. It doesnt just ignite... relax.

**** this thread.

just curious as to why ur looking for titanium when aluminum is usually a good material to use for tubing like that. i wasn't saying ur dumb for using titanium you don't have to be a smart ***.

You're thinking of magnesium.

nope, Ti burns like a **** IF you can get it that hot. i know about magnesioum flares etc. i didnt think he was just gonna use a straight pipe as an intake, i guess he has bent silicone couplers to go with the blinging pipe.

i just dont think its worth the money to impress...well no one. visually its relatively the same as any metral pipe, weight wise its not much less than aluminum, heat rejection properties are not fantastic eitther. hell id choos a CF pipe or gold plating my existing one.

but its your car. do whayt you like

Ti is actually heavier than Al. But who's counting?

Everyone is ******* this guy for wanting Ti pipes. I say, if he can get the pipe, and can find a place to mandrel bend them, he could make some pipes that would land him in SCM. Flame-treat the Ti and get some pretty colors.....

wasnt looking to have the Ti bent... was gonna do the pimp section welding for the very slight bend that we need.

as for Ti being heavier than aluminum.. yes it is, if you use just as much... but its strength allows you to use thinner walls and less material ending you up with a lighter product if engineered well.

I saw that you used Al, but if you still end up needing some in the future, I have some at the shop... it is sheet that is rolled and welded like you were thinking of... it is ok, but not really perfectly round... I didnt end up using it...
