Anyone heard of this? DTAFast Engine management
I was recommended this by my tuner http://www.dtafast.co.uk/S_60_PRO.htm for my H22 CRX turbo project. Just thought I'd share it with you as its kinda different. Its a UK designed Engine management unit for high revving 4 cylinder engines. My tuner has had a crank trigger wheel bolted on the crank pulley witha micrometer and a ford crank sensor is going to be used also somewhere along the line. Let me know what you think...

I know of 3 cars with DTA, two are 240's with RB motors, one makes 1000rwhp the other makes 800rwhp and the 3rd car is a mazda protege, but it only makes 300hp. it looks alot like aem software wise.

My tuner seems to think it shall be less setup time than the Hondata S300 I had and coupled with my wideband LM-1 should auto tune while I drive.
Its also got a built in boost control
I'd be interested to hear of any turbo hondas running this?

Talk with Don Flores. DonF is his username. I've dyno'd n/a road racing B18C originally done by him using DTA. He has his own DTA system which he uses w/ his engine dyno and is thoroughly experienced w/ it on Honda's.

seen it used on a turbo gsr back in the day and also a turbo bmw. both made good numbers and ran for years. i guess as with any system... it's only as good as the tuner.

dta works good, but finding people familiar with it is hard. I have a customer with dtafast on an fd3s rx7 thats kinda stuck. The software is kinda clunky and it uses a weird *** cable to connect it to the laptop which i cant find, so i cant really do anything for him. Hopefully he'll find the proper cable from the guy he bought the car from. its very simple though, i think the one in the fd has like 15-20 wires going to it.

Assuming you have an obd1 Honda, there is no way in hell that it could be less setup time than the S300. Plug it in, upload the basemap, and drive. No wiring needed for the S300. Yes, it will do boost control with an external solenoid.

I have the DTA p8pro in my civic -88 hb with a gt35r b16 and made 587hp in an engine dyno @ 2bar. I have not yet run the car with this engine but it runs extreamly smoth in the enginedyno anyway.
I like that you can hook up an ignition coil/cylinder directly to the ecu and you don´t need any cdi boxes or other stuff. It don´t have alot of analog inputs ether for datalogging. But over all I like it accept for all the PID regulator stuff.. It is realy hard to figure it out how to make it regulate the lambda controll and boost controll and all the fetures that needs to have correct PID values figured out. I know of several setups that ended up using external boostcontrollers and ditched the lambda controll features.
I will deal with it some more when i get the engine running in the car. I will probebly foul around with restrictions for the boost hose to the boost solenoid/WG to see if I can get a stable boost.. the problem is that the boost contoll is not stable.. It fluctates very heavely.. same thing withe the lambda controll..
If I cant´t make these fetures work I will recomend Autronic or aem instead.

And if your tuner sells you a box on it's ability to autotune while you drive, i'd find another tuner....

Our local tuner uses it well. Made 600whp on his civic probably 7 years ago now. COP setup, pretty cool for back in the day. I think the shop VW rabbit uses it too, makes 500+ too.

i think he just was pointing out the "plug n play" capability by retaining the stock ecu.

The problem comes with being in the UK not many people are familiar with hondata (there are a few tucked away on forums but noone who specializes). I think he meant the auto tune feature is handy for if I decide to up the boost or add any cooling upgrades etc etc. The DTAFast unit is a standalone ECU, I shall not need my honda ecu to run this like I would with the hondata
It seems alot of people are making good power with this unit so i'll see how to goes from here, once its up and running who knows maybe i'll be doing the tuning .......tick tick boom

Ive just finished day 1 of the efi101 beginners course and this has kind of inspired me to have a go myself but I shall avoid the temptation and learn once its been setup if I feel confident.

Guy @CPL is a UK agent for Hondata and runs a few quick cars as a result.
DTA is ok I used to run it on my old T16 Rover (400 UK BHP) a few years ago, most UK tuners will use DTA because that's all they know.
Have a word with Dave Walker, he tunes Honda's on his own managment system and if you've been around you'll know about Dave.
Motec seem to be into Honda's as well, loads of tuners play with that kit.
Abbey Motorsport may be able to help you, I know Norris done a couple of Honda's last year.
You need to research a little more, don't get me wrong DTA is good but Hondata is going to be the way forward.
