Default Anyone heard of this deal?? Sound good?

My friend told me that he bought a engine kit from race engineering that included wiseco pistons (b-series), scat rods (b16), king bearings (including thrust washers) and a cometic turbo hg (.040") for $500. Anyone heard of this deal? I told him he was full of it, so he brought me the stuff over to look @ it. He said he got two kits and wants to sell me one of them. I don't think that the deal is still going on though. Here are the picts of the stuff........

I know that he will sell the kit to me for what he paid for it. So I was thinking that I could get the kit and use the pistons and rods in different blocks since the rods are b16 and the pistons are ~7.7:1 cr in a b16 ( I called wiseco and talked to a tech about them). These are to low to put in a b16 to me, but the pistons are 8.6-8.9:1 cr in a 94-00' b18c1 and 8.3-8.6:1 in a b18a/b. A bit on the low side, but still a good deal imo and would seem to be a better fit (cr wise). What do you guys think?

Overall a pretty good deal huh??

Here are all the part #'s just incase someone calls bs like I did.
Scat - 2-5290-1771-935-827 (3/8 arp 2000 bolts)
Wiseco - K541M81
King - CR4046AM, MB5259AM and TW140AMSTD
Cometic - CM-C4232HP

thats a pretty good deal. I run the same pistons (9:1) they retail for $375-525 depending on the dealer, I dont use scat rods but they run around $250 for a set and cometic gaskets run around $80-$100 bucks...as for the bearings I shy away from aftermarket bearings and just go with oem (they have never failed me).

So...I would say buy it sell what you dont want and get what you do want.

it sounds like these items werent moving well and they just want to empty out their stock.
