no they do not. one carries ground, power, and voltage input. this one connects to the WB unit. the other carries RS-232 signal for data logging and ground. this would go to a computer. however, the v.1.5 does not use this cable, since if you're datalogging you'll want to plug your computer right into the WB unit. in other words, you can either use your computer or the display, but not at the same time unless you make a Y adaptor because they both plug into the DB-9 connector on the WB unit.

can you elaborate? are you talking about the white cable? if so, thats for the various inputs and outputs, such as vuser1, vuser2, NBout, RPM in, etc. other than that, i dont know of any "weird white thing"
