Do you mean personally or since you've been a member of this site? I don't recall where it was but I have seen a broken eagle rod.. Don't have proof or pictures.

that looks like the bearing seized up and spun.......
i would like to see a broken or bent eagle rod also....one with no discoloration around the big end and one with no obvious rod bolt failure from over/under torquing it.

I don't remember ever seeing one on HT.

I've seen one, i dont have pics, but it should have broke considering the motor is was in made mid 800's lol. If your concerned about them not holding up, dont be unless you want huge hp numbers.

Actually, both. Well... I take that back. In '04 there was one that was bent pretty badly, but that was at a drag race event with a car doing over 850whp at over 9500rpms. even then that was after the motor had seen about 10 events..

ive yet to see one break... i run them in most of my motors. race motor has made 845hp with no failures.
the one pictured looks to be from a spun bearing...then the bolts breaking.
ive seen pauters, crowers, etc break the same way.. thats not the rods fault.

Well what's the ratings for them? 500hp and 8000rpm? Durrrrr...
Seriously though, if you're making 800whp, chances are you've already spent well over $1k on the turbo alone. Another $2-400 for a 'more revered' name is pennies on the dollar. However in a cheap B/D-series build, Eagle is a no-brainer.

What are some of these more revered names? Just curious.

pennies on the dollar ay. Why spend those pennies on the dollar when you know eagles hold up. I know people are going to say "because its just that piece of mind" But ive used them and i see people making over 800 on them. I currently use the manley H beams, great rods for a few pennies more than eagles. That savings you keep from going with a lesser valued proven rod can be put towards safety or saving for a nice set of axles. Just my opinion.
Ive never seen an eagle failure YET due to the rod itself.
