Just as it states... I've heard of regular hones, ball hones... heard of using 3M pads...

Whats the "right" way to do it and do any of you have pics of these devices?

They all do the same job. They are basically a tool for "sanding" the inside of the cylinders to a desired uniform roughness. The best are probably the stone type which have long flat stones mounted on spring loaded arms. Theres also the bottle brush type which has a lot of little abrasive ***** on the end of flexible metal fingers. They all are spun inside the cylinder by using a drill. Heres some pictures

Its like a 3 Prong looking device. Proper way, its kind of hard. You have to get use to it and examinging the cross hatches (Which is kind of hard to see). The faster you move it up and down, the the angles will be small. The slower you do it, the bigger the angles. Too fast = oil runs off the walls too fast. Too slow = Oil stays on the wall too long.

Usually when using it, you just wanna break the glaze... so don't do it for more then 1 minute each cylinder.
