Im thinking about doing this. Its gonna give it a little more displacement, but give it a shitty rod ratio.

Anyone have any luck with this? Pro's or con's please.

i dunno, i wanted to do this to my spare gsr block tho:

LS crank
LS Pauter rods
CP 9:1 pistons
Bensons sleeved block 83mm

i wanted to do this on a gsr block because of the oil squirters in the block. anybody have thoughts on this block setup and the final displacement?

you will need custom rods.

I'm looking to do this setup im my next project as well, I haven't really been able to find any information on it but it should work..

I personally don't think 2mm of additionall storke would hurt anything if the right parts were used in the build up and the rev limit placed at a moderate 9500-10000 in a race car..

Allthou I do think that the oil squerters are gona have to go to give the rods enough clearance to sping freely, besides if your running forged pistons you dont' really need all of that oil inthere anyways and it should even free up some hp with less oil sticking to the bottoms of the pistons on their way up.

Those are just my thoughts on it, but if someone has done this before with either sucess or faliure I would love to hear about it...

Well I just did a search in the all motor forum and came up with these two subjects:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=536562
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=537033

So these should help us out some..

Thanks Adi thats some good info there.....I could have sworn that I searched, maybe not I guess

Im liking the idea of vtec more and more and I have a spare LS crank from the cracked sleeve block and I have the LS crower rods and JE flatop 9.8 combo sitting here---assuming I can re-use the one rod where the bearing spun.

So.....any more thoughts on this? Especially in a pretty wild turbo application.

we've ran gsr blocks with ls cranks and revved them up to 10000 rpm no problem....you just have to make sure everything is well balanced...

Im not really worried about the squirters. As far as Im concerned all they do is slow piston speed.

Another question though. Why is the LS crank weaker then the GSR crank? I never put the 2 side by side to compare them. Is it only cause the 2mm extra stroke that pushes more weight outwards while its spinning thus causing it to distort a bit more under high rpm?

I really dont think crank weakness is anything to consider seeing as there are LS cranks being used on 600whp+ cars. Unless your goals are that high its probably not an issue.

oil squirters are not needed with forged pistons anyways

I know that Fraely (fastasknutz) has the crank in his all mota ITR....and it seems to have worked great...he might have a different engine now....maybe... Either way, it works...and good.

I might do it...if I don't do an LS/vtec....

it works, it will make more power, and theres no good reason not to do it.

i have one in my garage.

I'm using ls crank in my gsr block that i'm building right now. 84mm, crower rods, 9:8:1 flat top pistons. It works and makes more power. I would recomend it.

LS crank in a GSR block with LS rods works fine...no problems
