Icon6 Anyone have a good source for a remanned distributor?

Well, I'll admit it, I've been running a SOHC dizzy on my GSR with 1 of the ears cut off. After toasting a second coil in a few months, I'm wondering if the dwell on the sohc vs the dohc dizzys is different and that is why they blew. I don't have my laptop handy to compare. Either that or its because I've just been cannibalizing old distributors in my parts box to make it work. Either way, it's time to get a proper dizzy.

Does anyone know of a good place to get a replacement? I've been having good luck with my 500ish whp gsr on the OEM ignition, and am trying to avoid getting something that is going to cause me problems.

Rockauto sells them for $135ish (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,7108) and I see new units on ebay for $70 (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...r&_sacat=33690)

So what's the difference?

a single dizzy ? I've never heard of that one. I run an LS dizzy with a leg cut off on my gsr motor. I also have it gutted and running external ignition system with ICM delete box. Might be something to look into. How much power are you making?

Yep, pretty sure it was a sohc dizzy. Might not of been, pulled it from my crate of old dizzy parts, pretty sure though. The fitment sucks to be honest. It's making around 500.

Anyway, after talking with a friend who confirmed what I already suspected, all the new dizzys for sale have china parts in them and will likely cause ignition breakups.

I'm going to take a gsr shell I have and rebuild it with some components I have laying around rather than deal with misfires from the Chinese distributors that seem to be everywhere.

Good call. If you need more info on an affordable ignition system let me know. Runs roughly 320 bucks

Sure, feel free to PM me with info. I'm hoping for a certain COP system to be completed and released one of these days, but hard to tell a ETA on such things.
