Re: (lkailburn)
I have not done one on a 6th gen but i have done one ona 93 civic hatch, no mods to the bumper support or the bumper cover. I had to mod the intercooler it self bucause of the end tanks. I hope this helps some.

hmm. yah it does help a bit. i'm surprised you didn't have to modify anything. it is a rather LARGE fmic. a friend of mine bought a 6" jrc fmic and needed to modify the bumper so it fit. idk.. i found one for really cheap. it may leak but i will build a diy leak tester for it.. test it and if its good or only minor leaks i'll repair the leaks and then see how well i can fit it..
till then anyone else?
did you have to weld shut the stock inlet/outlet ports, cut circles down lower and weld on new pipes? the guy selling the fmic just told me thats what i'd have to do. cuz i asked him why the stock inlet/outlet's were chopped all the way off.

I had to due some trimming on the inside of the bumper cover. The support I didnt really have to mess with to much other than the two holes i drilled to hold the end brackets of the top of the intercooler to the support beam.

Tetronious: looks like you welded shut the sotck inlet/outlet ports and cut and welded on some of your own?
fjt--looks like you used the stock inlet/outlet tubes? also what bumper modifications did you have to do if any?

It has custom side entanks(but shitty ones)..In that pic i was just test fitting it..it is not actually in the car(actually i sold it and got a bigger one) and i was thinking of putting it like the pic on the red one posted..However if you want to put it like on my pic, you can do it but you will just need more bends for the piping. If i would've wantes to put a straight pipe in there behind the bumper and U bend it into the engine bay i would've had to cut the bumper support ends a lil cause they are in the way..Unless like i said you use xtra bends on the piping to avoid the bumper support end.

cool. thanks guys i appreciate the info. it was shipped out today. should be here in a few days.
it has some rock damage so i'm gonna build a diy pressure tester and check to make sure it can hold pressure. and also fix any leaks it has. then i'll start mounting it up to see what needs to get done.
if you have more tips or anything feel free to share. same to everyone else. anything will be helpful i'm sure

yup I got a local welder around here to seal off the stock inlet/outlets and port it out from the sides. I think its easier to run it that way and it seems to work more compatible with my turbo kit as well.

^^ very cool man. on the starion i bought... the stock inlet/outlet tubes were cut all the way off.. so i kinda have to do what you did. my dad can do all the welding for me so thats good.. but is there anything special about cutting the ports out on the sides? can i cut say... 2.5" holes and weld on 2.5" pipe? i know the stock inlet/outlet 's were smaller than 2.5"
thanks,
Luke

Why even buy on of this intercoolers when you can get a tyrus IC for i few bucks xtra and it will look wayyyyyyyyy much better.
used Starion IC = $150 or something like that
New Tyrus IC = $200 shipped ( 6" long)
Thats just me tho.

I have one on my Eclipse and it was modded to look better. The mounts are fubar'd for my car, so it sits all fucked up like. I like it though. I am willing to sell it if anyone would like to use it on their junkyard turbo setups. I am looking into a Drag Gen 3 intercooler, just cuz they flow good for 9-13 psi.
