Can this happen? A friend of mine was telling me that you could spin a bearing from running to rich, how does this happen assuming oil isn't a factor and it is filled to factor spec? Is it that the rich fuel mixture thins the oil out?

In theory, it could happen if you were running rich enough, but you would have to be so rich you'd be smoking black smoke constantly, vehicle would barely run, and would have to be like that for a long time.

You would definitely foul plugs and/or wash out the rings first.

If you had 4 quarts of oil and 4 quarts of gas in your pan...maybe, but that is near impossible

yeah I can't imagine any situation where you could wash out your bearinings with fuel and still have a functioning car.
