Default anyone ever have a g-e oil sandwich plate go bad??

i noticed an oil leak today. thought it was the filter so i changed it but its not that. the sandwich plate is tight to the back of my block so its not loose.

do these things go bad? like warp or crack or anything. it does have a lot of miles on it as its been on 3 different lsvtec motors ive had.

its probably the o-ring seal that is leaking behind the adapter......

yes..the o-ring seal is probally worn out...thats what happen to me on my second build...the oring was lightly worn out...but i used honda bond all around it...hasnt leaked since....even if u get a new one..a little honda bond on it wouldnt hurt, just to be safe...

yep, get a new o-ring from GE

Make sure the surface on the block is clean too when you tighten everything down. A tiny dab of oil on the ring helps as you tighten it.

ok some good advice you guys have. it was a fresh block when i put it on and i did use a very very thin coat of oil on the oring to help it seal.

all in all, im just happy i found the leak, i lost 1qt before i found it, but im sure it coulda been much worse

I have had the o-rings go bad, or get pinched.

upon further inspection, it really seems its leaking between the filter and the sandwich, not the sandwich and the block...

I highly doubt a sandwich adpater that worked before could become warped enough to leak...but anything is possible.

It can only be the oil filter being warped or that o-ring then. Unless the old o-ring stuck on the sandwich adapter and you doubled them up...thats fairly common actually.

I do, I went through two o-rings, lubed with oil, and still got a little leak.

I had a bad bad bad oil leak I couldn'[t find on my old motor from last year and beginning of this year, when I took my GE sandwich adapter off that block to put it on the new one, the o ring was all worn out, I put a new o ring on it from another brand sandwhich plate I had here. I haven't started the car up yet BUT hopefully it will be all good. I put a thin layer of honda bond all the way around the sandwich plate too

I will never use a sandwich adapter. I was at the track and i lost oil from that golden eagle adapter it was comming from the oil filter to the adapter i was in the middle of a 1/4 mile pass and lost all my oil. there went my bearings little knock from lossing all the oil. luckily my turbo is still good. i have solid mounts so i'm thinking the oil filter backed off. but still my own personal horror story. it was gushing out oil from that adapter. just make sure you check everything in between runs

so im assuming that your using a "T" now rather than using the oil sandwich.......yes? no?
