I noticed that darton offers an 84 mm sleeve kit for the GSr block. I have asked the head shop about any probs that would occur with the larger bore and smaller combustion area in the 1.8 head. They say they would not open up the combustion area to match the cyl bore b/c it would just lose compression. Now when the cyl wall is further away from the valve it is unshrouding it helping to create more power...this is good, but which headgasket now? I havent found one that says for GSR with 84 mm bore, the block will be o-ringed also with stainless steel wire, and match machining in the head to accomodate the o-ring. So is anybody running these or know of somebody? 84mm would make it a 2.0 right?

Most everyone opens the chamber. Cometic mls gasket will work perfect with your o-rings and comes in 84mm vtec. We use the Cometic with our o-rings and have never blown one with over 30lbs boost.

i believe it's 84mm with a LS crank makes it a 2.0 or doing 84.5mm bore with gsr crank will make it a 2.0, correct me if i'm wrong someone. I run 84.5mm and run a cometic gasket, works fine.

I ordered my 84mmCP pistons for my gsr block and will be sending it away to benson to be sleeved!

B18C - 87.2mm stroke / 84 mm bore = 1.933L
B18C - 87.2mm stroke / 84.5 mm bore = 1.956L
B18C - 87.2mm stroke / 85 mm bore = 1.979L

B18A/B LS - 89mm stroke / 84 mm bore = 1.973L
B18A/B LS - 89mm stroke / 84.5 mm bore = 1.996L
B18A/B LS - 89mm stroke / 85 mm bore = 2.020L

I'll be running a 84mm block that was resleeved by Benson through Earl. It has also been o-ringed. Just got my custom CP pistons a couple of days ago. Just waiting for the Pauter rods to come in, the last piece of the puzzle.

i have the same set up and let me tell you it is alot better then my little old b16.

OK i just spoke with Race Engineering (where i will buy the sleeves from) they tell me they offer the larger gasket, excellent. But they reccomend running a copper gasket if i get it o ringed. I dont want a copper gasket. I have heart they leak oil and anti all over the place, they seal the boost, but leak the liquid. Do I have to get it o ringed? He tells me the gasket will take up 30 lbs of boost with no prob without o rings.

Is darton a good sleeve to use for the turbo, im notincing alot of people have these benson sleeves and are keeping the same floating design of the cylinders, is this a better way to go? I really the darton setup and the way it creates a full deck on the top. Anybody else?

you'll be good to go with either setup, its about personal preference.

darton has the ability to remove an individual sleeve if you ever grenade your motor, that way you only have to buy 1 sleeve rather than all 4 again.

Benson's dartons are individual as well, but I wouldn't go to any machine shop but his to get a new one put in. I believe earl said something about a .001" tolerance in the fitment of those sleeves.

Im running RS 84mm sleeves in my ITR block, LS rods and crank with CP pistons. Hope it works fine
