Anybody use this EMS yet?
I have been keeping my eye on this new beast for a while and was now wandering if anyone has cut it loose yet. It's not intended to be considered a diy unit, and is more of a unit that has been refined to compete with other EMS's on the market. As can be seen in the link below, this unit is pre-assembled, and comes with lots of features. Here's the link:

Iono, $800 plus wiring harness and probably other sensors as well. it has nice features but would be hard to pull people away from the other regular ems's out there for roughly the same price if not a little more.

I would agree, I could see it a bit more being used on non-honda applications very easily, 3S-GTE engines, 4G63s, and others, but not in the Honda market.

yeah i could see this as a great tool for non-honda based vehicles especially those cars with different manufactured motors. the 16optional injector capability is great as well.

Considering it still only has 2 injector drivers just like the regular MegaSquirt that it's based on $800 is a lot of money for some upgrades done to a regular plain old MS. $800 can get you a used AEM EMS. Megasquirt is attractive because of it's low low price.

I think we are veering off of what is truly important with comparing features and cost. What I am most concerned about is reliability. Yeah, it's great to be able to save $400 on an EMS, but how stable will it be? Reliability is what i'm concerned with, and yes, I do like the $900 cost versus the $1800+ cost of other systems in the market. That's the only reason why I am considering it. Don't get me wrong here, because if there was something else more reliable or stable than the Spectre EMS for the same cost, then I would be more interested in that particular EMS. My initial opinion of the Spectre EMS is that there is a reason why it costs alot more than other MegaSquirt systems, and I believe that it has alot to do with it being alot more reliable or fail-proof. I can't verify this for sure, but it just seems that way.

Its because they've added everything that the nay-sayers take issue with, such as it not being bullet-proof, etc. Whats funny is that 98% of MS problems are user-error, not system issues. Its the opposite with many other plug & play boxes, mainly because they were made with emphasis on profit, and since you can't add features for boxes like AEM. That EMS is basicly everything MS can offer, with a good case, little better components, etc.
When you consider all the crap needed to do a rather small run of that kind of product, it doesn't leave much room for profit. They can't be working for peanuts...
