Anybody running GT28RS on a B18A/B? Help me out.
Looking at selling my B16A2 in favor of a B18B for boost. I really want 250-290 whp. Will it be doable? My setup: GT28RS, JGfab equal length, Rc 550's, 2.5" downpipe and exhaust, Hondata S200B. Thanks.

Also I have seen the B18A/B turbo setup thread, I really dont want to read through 120+ pages of B18's with t3/t4's.

your retarded if your gunaget rid of a b16 with vtec to go to a ls motor... there are people pushing 400+whp on a STOCK motor b16... y use an ls that will top out on stop internals at around 325whp... keep your b16 and use that turbo, run about 10psi on pump and 13-15 on c16 and youll make about 330ish on c16 and around 300whp on the b16... dunno bout that turbo though....

Now you have to remember good sir, is that there is no replacement for displacement and B18A/Bs are a dime a relative dozen and will make the same if not better power LOWER in the powerband.

All I am really wanting is a little less that 300 on 91 octane, either motor could do it on a conservative tune I think. I think maybe the LS will last longer, but I dont know about top end with a stock LS head. I am torn.

I've driven both setups, and the turbo B16 pulls the turbo LS big time...there is no replacement for displacement, but the cylinder head is where the power is, period...Want displacement, save, get a big bottom end, but NEVER go from a decent flowing head to a one that flows like ***...2 cents

the turbo will do the power you want. now pick an engine. i would do pistons to be safe.

keep what you have and turbo that...when / if it blows...then build a different bottom end. You should have no problems reaching your goal HP with a good tune & a good set up.

If the gearing is more aggressive in the B16 setup of course it would pull on a LS setup. If the gearing is the same, then it becomes a fair fight.

the ls will make more torque, great for daily driving. gearing can make up for a lack of torque, BUT, like said...there is no replacement for displacement. just my .02

Until the LS floats a valve in 4th and has to shift to 5th while the B16 just keeps on pulling. The LS would be in front for a while - I hope the driver enjoys shifting madly.
A B16 on moderate boost can max out 4th gear on 22" slicks - that's about 8800 rpm. The LS engine would have to go to 5th, or enter valve float territory, or pony up more cash for larger slicks.
You'd save a bit of cash going to an LS and selling your B16, but IMO, you're better off with the B16 turbo until you go LS/VTEC! It's less work after all... the B16 is already in there. Just turbo it, enjoy it all summer, buy an LS bottom end in the fall, and build it - then next year drop it in.

Well one thing I guess I should mention is I will be using a GSR transmission so thats that for the gearing theory.

Save your money and go with B16. I have friends here in Brazil using 400whp civic with B16 as daily driver car.
Less torque I know. Or you can put a 1.8L stroker.
I have a 98 Hatchback stock b16 using mitsubishi turbocharger and make 272hp@7.5 psi using alcohol (very common down here)
1) Custom turbo kit with Mitsubishi turbo at 7.5psi.
2) MSD ignition module.
3) Dastek Unichip piggyback computer module with VTEC control (VTEC engages at 4500rpm).
4) Custom headers and cat-back exhaust.
5) Ceramic clutch.
6) Larger fuel injectors
7) High performance fuel pump (Weldon) and filter.
8) K&N conical air filter.
Now I decided to sleeve my block, 84mm bore, 9:1 pistons, eagle rods and my goal is 450hp using a GT28RS.
The dyno video of my car is here - http://www3.herreramotorsports...d.wmv

Pict of the motor -
And pict of the car after paint job (Actually)

OT.. but your going to be pretty hard pressed trying to squeeze near 380whp out of a GT28RS

Maybe a GT3076R will be better than The Disco Potato I guess...
