Any warranty on engine rebuild + aftermarket parts?
I think my bottom end is shot on my B18C1 cuz i sucked water thru my CAI last week. anyway...
I was looking to boost sometime next year so i was gonna upgrade to forged pistons + rods while maintaining the stock compression. I was gonna have a local reputable motor rebuild shop do the work (they also install used engines etc but also do a lot of rebuilds).
It does not seem they will warranty the work if aftermarket parts are installed. I'm scared of rebuilding the motor, having something go wrong, blowing it, and then the shop telling me to stick it cuz theres no warranty.
Whats the deal? Do shops typically deny a warranty on an engine rebuild with aftermarket parts? Does everyone with upgraded internals just say f' it and take their chances? Is there a solution here or just risk it?
any info is appreciated. thanks...

From reputable shops, on most other builds, the warranty is only workmanship ONLY if the cause of the problem was due to bad preparation, and they admit to the fact that there was a problem (But this is hard to diagnose). Warranties for the build itself with aftermarket parts don't exist. If it's all OEM from an OEM dealer, then, and only then, will it POSSIBLY be warrantied.
Face it, you wanna play, you risk paying more.

Re: warranty
so thats it? I could drop crazy money into a rebuild with aftermarket parts, blow it the next day, and i'm just assed out? That's disappointing. So basically everyone with a worked bottom end has no recourse if there motor blows?

That is why finding a reputable builder is paramount. There are so many factors with builds and the management AND the tuning, there is no way to Finger-point, even if you could.
