Default Any thoughts on the Garrett's GTW lineup

Looks like Garrett finally woke up. Is too little to late or will this be a pleasant surprise.

As a side note, the journal bearing components seem to already available in the market place.

Are they only being offered in the 34, 36, and 38 series so far?

I guess that surprises me as well. All of them are older technology. I would have expected a revision to the GT wheels.
Or they don't care that precision is kicking their butts in the aftermarket world.
Sidenote. The compressor wheels look like the employ 9 blades.

But precision isn't, at least when it comes to reliability.

Garrett has a larger market share no matter how you slice it. I saw the gtw series and just laughed,at least they won't fail left and right lol.

Kicking their butts in...what? Most likely to fail? Most denied warranty claims? Most bearing failure due to oil contamination? Yeah, those crazy Precision users, man...them and their dirty oil, that no one else has a problem with.

Kicking their butts in terms of power production. Precision's deficiencies are well known and not really relevant to the topic. Please take that issue else where.

I have exclusively used precision turbochargers BB and Journal bearing, pushed both types harder than most and haven't had a single failure. Look under the hood of the professional drag race community and tell me how many Garrett turbos you see?

You and tepid have the most reliable precision turbos I have ever seen.

The power rating on the "5858 equivalent" seems a bit optimistic being rated at 700hp...

I dont think I've seen a precision turbo not smoke or fail at somepoint.

I know quite a few teams in the Road race community that run Garrett turbos and Id venture to guess they are pushed a wee bit harder then drag racing.
