I would have to say when reaching that amount of WHP it would be wise of you to upgrade your fuel system to an external pump. I have seen the 255 reach 550+ but I can recommend you using it for 600-700WHP. Why not just change to an external pump?

Yeah go with a external pump. But there is a way to run an internal that will handle that. You can run two 255's intank. You just have to fab a bracket & then you run two feed lines to a y connecter then to the rail. Alot of people do this. It works but think about this: two 255 pumps $200, Two -8 to -10an lines $90ish, -an y fitting $20ish, plus the fabbing. An aeromotive a1000 is like $350 +/-. Very close to possibly cheaper & no fabbing. Will handle 1000hp.

I've seen people get away w/o a sump tank. But I would recommend one. Go with an aeromotive a1000. Its **** man. Thats the way I went. what hp are you puttin down now.

A car that I tune has one and is driven pretty often with out any issues.
You can make 600hp on a 255 pump..... Anything over that is pushing it.

I am running on my Talon the A1000 inline fuel pump with a bosch intank inside my fuel cell. Just keep your walbro 255 and add the A1000 inline pump. If you cant afford to run the stainless steel lines at this point you can pick up ruber nitrate line for a pretty good price and it holds up to 300psi.

600-620whp seems to be about as high as one should go for the stock pump location. there's a few easy ways to sump your tank without spending a fortune. Just search around. Stan @ fast-turbo.com showed me a really easy way. I'm just gonna build my own sump. Why risk your motor over a couple hundred dollars, at most. Just take the extra time and do it the right way. I'm running a Single bosch external pump with -10an SS feed line kit from Fast-turbo.
