Default Any intrest in Carbon IC piping?

Well since its winter break and me and a friend are bored for the next month we've been toying with the idea of making Carbon Fiber IC piping, not complete piping (unless there was enough demand), more specifically the Pipe from the TB to the fenderwell, and a Drag/Revhard style Air intake pipe. The upper charge pipe would be available with your choice of BOV flange....Basically im Just wondering if there would be any intrest in products like this if priced competitively (ie, cheaper than Drag/revhard piping) before we go and make molds. BTW: This isn't some backyard operation...My friend Races in the Formula Atlantic series and him and his father design and produce carbon/fiberglass Noses, diffusers, wings, etc for alot of SCCA cars...

Don't really have a set price in mind, looking for some realistic ideas (not someone saying they can do it jcwhitney style for $50 bux, etc ) quality carbon fiber works takes time..

id be interested.....upper and intake. what would be really cool is if you could design a cold air intake tube

yea that would be cool, its just alot easier to base the mold off a more universal intake pipe

How are u going to incorporate a blow off valve flange into the carbon fiber?

Theres products out that allow you to bond carbon with metals (im not sure the specifics on it)...we would also use two small aluminum sections of pipe (inside the carbon) on both ends of the piping where your connectors would clamp.

it can be done no problem, just trying to see if its worth it to make the mold

Do you guys think $150-$175 for the upper charge pipe w/bov flange is reasonable? What about $60-$75 for the intake pipe? Please try not to flame if you have no clue the time/effor that goes into quality carbon fiber work

Let me know what you think?

what do you guys think about those prices? reasonable? And yes i know you can make homemade piping for under 100 bux, but thats not the point of this

Jesse, i'll get you my charge piping this weekend for a mold. I'm holding you to that 1.2% of the profit though

sounds like a great idea, extreamly light, very strong. anyone know of the heat transfer rate for carbon fiber?
