Any 350+ whp SOHC's?
I was wanting to take a look at some of the setups the higher HP SOHC guys are running. I am building a SOHC car (VW) and IIRC, the flow numbers between VW & Honda SOHC's were similar. Just like the Honda market, most VWers choose DOHC or the VR6 (6 cyl) as their platform, which has pretty much left the SOHC out to dry.
I've been hanging around the site for a few months, and finally registered and did a lot of researching, but not much info on higher HP SOHC cars.

Thanks! You say fully built... do you have any head work? What size turbo was that...and what turbo will you be using 450?

Yes the head is fully built with full ferrea valve train.
I was using a .60/.63 Ar garret T3/T04E, and will be using the same turbo again for 450,but i will be pushing to its limits, and 30psi.

Wow! How was spool up with that hot side? Good luck with that turbo.
Would you happen to have any head flow numbers?
I'm what you would call, ignorant , what's the displacement of your motor?

I see full boost of 20psi by like 4500-5000. I rev the engine to 8k.
I do not have any head flow #'s at all.
But i do beleive this turbo will be plenty big for my HP goals.
The motor is a 75mm bore and still a 1.6L

The motor I have lined up right now is 82.5mm bore with 92.8mm stroke (2.0L)
My flow #'s are at the house, but I believe they are in the neighborhood of ~170cfm intake and ~140cfm exhaust IIRC.
..after reading some of your older posts, I have a lot of reading to do.

As for all you d series guys with the big turbos, what are you revving to? I'd like to run a larger sized turbo that won't run out of steam in the higher rpms. My t25 falls flat on its face at 5500 and I don't shift until 6500-7250rpm when racing. I'd like a bigger turbo to be able and have a stronger upper-rpm powerband. And for the bigger turbo guys, when is boost kicking in. Thanks.

For me, it comes down to usable horsepower on the street. Anything over 250/250 to the wheels in any fwd honda without new suspension, tires and clutch, on the street is *insert own opinion here* running the risk of serious traction issues unless you're on the highway. Yes, many will disagree on that, but i'm talking about the majority of cars who don't have traction bars and a gear based boost controller with a two step launch control, and drag radials on the car 24/7. I'd just prefer to save the money that I'd need to spend to buy a b series engine, new mounts, (in my case) wiring harness and put it into a nice turbo setup and engine management on my d16. Even on a d16 with a nice engine management setup and a good turbo setup, it's very possible to reach the upper limits of "usable" power on the street as it is. Now if you factor in the price of just a decent turbo setup even without decent engine management for the b series, you could have bought yourself new pistons and rods for the d series.
I still dream of owning a big, built turbo b18c1 in my crx someday, but until I have the ability to own a second car as a daily driver, that's not gonna happen. And that's the case with a bunch of guys on here. If i had a dedicated daily driver, and a ton of money, then yes, I'd build a b series, 5th gear burnout machine.
Cliffnotes: The D-Series engines, in my mind, have all the potential in the world of reaching the upper limits of "usable" horsepower on the street. Not to mention it can do it on a turbo that reaches full boost at 3000 rpm and can hold strong until redline.

Simple. I want 250whp. I can do this with my stock engine and prolly $4000 worth of mods. To me it's worth it.
Right now I've spent a total of $2000 on my kit and would say im close to 200whp. To me, that's some cheap HP. With another $2000 invested. Im hoping to make 250+ whp SAFELY.

Damn, that's basically what I was trying to say, without being so damn long-winded. The d series affords you the opportunity to obtain cheap, usable (meaning quick spool and strong until redline) horsepower and torque.

I have a b16 in my hatch with the turbo kit in the closet(wating for a fuel pump and blowoff valve) but if I were to do it all over again I would have gotten a d series. for sheezey.
