Another N/A guy PersuadeD to go turbo setup ?
Well I have decided to make some real power and i was happy with my N/A LSV but after dropping a valve and gilling the whole motor i though it was time to go bigger and stronger. Now while turboing a lsv do you still use vtec pistons on ls rods? I know I am buying forged internals as to rods and pistons so let me know. because i know you mut use the vtec pistons on the n/a setups. I am trying to take my time run all ARP a Main girdle to stiffen up the bottom end and is a block guard the wrong wayto go with this setup. Looking to run 10-12 psi on stock sleeves. I dont know what power it will make looking around 250-300, will make me very happy. t3/t4 of coarse Let me know what to look out for and things to steer me straight thanks guys any help will be great.

aftermarket ls rods and ls pistons (around 8.8:1-9:0 compression for ls on lsvtec will be around 9.4-9.5:1). bore it .5mm over too. That's pretty much good for 15-18psi without high chance of blowing up.
250-300hp is doable on 100% bone stock motor BTW.

Before i say anything thanks a lot for helping me out. Alright so you saying to run forged LS internals all the way so Ls rods and pistons instead of forged LS rods and vtec pistons, am I understanding you correctly? So stay away from the vtec pistons and get aftermarket LS pistons to acheive around 9:1 compression. Is around 9:1 what you want for turbo with 93 octane? Can i stay with the stock bore of 81mm or would it be better to go 81.5 with OS pistons thanks guys

Don't worry about this OEM piston swap stuff. For turbo builds from scratch, Aftermarket is your best bet is to go for the aftermarket. Higher than 9.0:1 is highly suggested. Lower compression is mainly only for super large turbo applications and those who only have lower octane at their disposal and more conservative tunes.

81.5mm is better for more displacment, but mostly it's so you can start with new fresh cylinder walls to break the rings on and insure proper seal. The thing is that vtec heads raise the compression on ls motors so you might want to go slightly lower compression pistons for ls because vtec head will bring it up few points.

Re: (ABK)
So I know I am going to buy Aftermarket pistons for the ls. what compression ls pistons do you recommend I get due to putting the head on and that raises it a few points. 9.0:0?
