another Greddy FMU blue box question. Why does it suck?
I 've noticed a lot of people here hate the blue box. Why? can someone explain in a little more detail? I recently got the kit, so kinda in the dark about the specifics.
most people seem to prefer the Hondata for obvious reasons, but why is the Greddy bos so inferior?

Here you go...
The blue box has a preprogrammed fuel map that cannot be changed. It does not adjust timing so if you want you will have to do that with the distributor cap. Look here on how to do that... http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto.html . The fuel map that is pre-programmed may be a good one for some cars and you can call these people lucky! Of course GReddy designed it to be rich, which is safe, but not good for power. You can see Turbocivicsi's dyno that it is off the chart rich! Rich means too much fuel btw. The blue box is plug and play and even if you wanted to you can't tune it. That is the kits downfall.
Most people go with a Standalone, Hondata, AEM EMS cause you can taylor it to your application and its more reliable etc.
Hope that helps.

well its better then stock because at least it will keep your motor from blowing up. Its just not the greatest thing for power.

I had no problem with the blue box on my motor. It did run a little rich but that is better than lean. I think its ok if you stay under 10 psi of boost.
