Default AMS GT42R EVO 826 whp

2.4 liters

2.0 vs 2.4 liters

Taken off EVOM... from AMS doing testing on their gt42R kit

http://forums.evolutionm.net/s...pp=15

Overall I am pretty impressed on the spool characteristics of the 2.4 GT42R...

it spools a lot like how our motors would spool a PT67 type turbo. I wonder if it could carry the torque to 9 - 9.5k.

wow interesting data there. The actual difference from .4 liters of spool time.

The best part is that the setups are supposedly identical beside the bottom end

the 2.0 is their race car

and the 2.4 is their customers car

by reading the thread... the 2.0 is actually run 1-2 psi more, so the difference gained by displacement is actually even more were the boost held equal.

To correct a few. Its not a 2.4L its a 2.3L

But none the less. Its a powerhouse

Correct you are sir

According to a guy from SRVidz.com that posts on our local forums says that AMS is going to try and tune the car to 900whp on just boost alone, so I assume that they will be running a shot on the car as they did before.

Gonna make for some damn good videos soon

That was sick. Just curious what size are those wastegates on that thing. Also what was the boost level?

Anyone with the AMS kit? It looks really nice, but does anyone have problems with boost creep?

I've been to there shop twice in the past year and man are they moving up fast. From my personal experience there they seemed like really F*&(*&( cocky and all of that but maybe its just me. I just can't believe these guys are stuntin all over the honda guys. That is insane power on all boost! When I was at Nopi Nationals at Norwalk about a month and a half ago their silver evo went 9.41!!! We need to start putting some of our power to the ground!

Well i wouldn't say they are dominating over the Honda camp. The car has to be able to go rounds before it can win a trophy.

I completely understand that. I was going to make a post about this in fi but I guess I'll just bring it out here. To my knowledge right now in the sport compact car league if you will, I just can't believe how much power these guys are making. I know that the 4g63 is a stout powerplant and can withstand a lot of power but they dont even come close to the flow potential and top end power of vtec equipped cars. I just can't understand how they're making that much power without that design. I understand that there are many designs out there that make great power but this is getting insane. Why arent the honda guys making this much power or MORE?

i'm sure there are honda guys that make this much power or more. but they are the pro racers, and just don't necessarily need to show off their dyno numbers because in competition what counts is the number you run at the track.

the 4g63 head has huge ports and flows well. with the right cam and turbo provided the head is decent that is all that really matters.

in my opinion the only real advantage a vtec head affords for turbocharging is that the valvetrain with it's rocker arms and billet reinforced cam caps makes the head really stout.

While these number for the Mitsubishi world are really impressive, if you read NABR which is a highly technical 4g63 forum there are quite a bit of problems people run into with their bottom end above 600 whp.

Where as for us, those kinds of numbers are within reached by the common enthusiast without resorting to any exotic engine building techniques. Case in point, I assembled the 600 whp engine in my own car. It is the first engine I've ever assembled and it runs like a clock.

There are 800whp hondas on GT42R and c16. They just don't post up those dyno's.
