ALS: Anti Lag System
Not sure if you guys covered this already (I never come to this forum) but came across this and found it interesting...
http://www.rallycars.com/Cars/bangbang.html Keeps the turbo spinning by extreme ignition retardation and a rich mixture which ignites in the combustion chamber, manifold, or exhaust ports when the exhaust valve is open. Therefore providing more power coming out of a turn. Thoughts? |
Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (sackdz)
Pretty cool, huh? Decreases turbo life substantially, though. In racing uses (like rally, or drag) that doesnt really matter though https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif ECUs like SDS and I beleive Haltech (among others) have an anti-lag feature built into them.

Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (turbod16y8)
isn't that like, that misfiring system on the Lancer Evo in initial D?

good post

Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (simple4012)
My IntegraLink ECU has this feature built-in, as well as launch control and full-throttle shift https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (turbopanda)
im going to wire my msd 2step so i can flatshift

Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (BoostedED9)
actually antilag is nothing like the msd 2 step. and my E6K has an option for it. very nice feature.

Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (sackdz)
You can use anti-lag if you got the $$ to go through 10x turbos a year! Anti-lag destroyes turbos in a matter of a few hundred miles... That msd 2 step is nothing like anti-lag. Anti-lag asctually lets the fuel and air run through the head, and it combusts when it hits the x-tremely high temps of the exhaust manifold. Thats what ignites the mixture, the heat. Than the fire drops down the exhaust housing of the turbo. Have you ever heard the anti-lag being used in person? Its SSOOOO LOUD! If youve ever been to pro-compact races, most of the big guys use it..

Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (XLR8 GS-R)
Thanks for the replies guys. I can see it would be only practical in rally and road racing applications. Has anyone ever driven with one?

Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (BoostedED9)
Hahahha- did you see it in person?? Its pretty crazy. Its actually an option on the AEM EMS system too- surprising that AEM would include something like that. Yah, one of my ffriends had it too on his halteck system, it would scare away any big block chevy that was itching a race lol. Its pretty mean. If you ever watch the WRC (world rally championchips) on speedvision, you can hear the anti-lag system when they decellerate for a turn. You can also see traces off the fire coming out of the exhaust.

Re: ALS: Anti Lag System (XLR8 GS-R)
well it was while sitting doing some idle tuning he decided to hit hte als while i was behind the car by the exhaust, not a good place to be...
