All of a sudden throwing 2 codes. Code 20 Electrical Load Detection and Code 21 vtec spool solenoid
For some reason now my car is randomly throwing these codes whenever I let my rpms go above around 6000 rpms and there has to be a good bit of load on the engine...like at full throttle. Both of the codes are being thrown at the same time. Any idea whats going on?

Your car is cursed.
That seems very weird though, most likely electrical? Possibly alternator.. I have seen more retarded things.

yea i am so sad. My car has ran perfect until now . I was thinking alternator too. I tightened the belt a couple of days ago because it was squeeling....actually the same day i first noticed the code.

It also feels like my top end completely falls off when it throws this code...like maybe vtec disengages.

yea, that would make sense, if you are throwing that code.
Also some battery testers have an ALT tester on them. Might as well take it to auto zone or something.</TD></TR></TABLE>
yea my buddy sais he has something that we can test it with tomorrow.

I already replied on the uber forum, but the reason it throws a vtec solenoid code is because the vtec wire is becoming disconnected. It's probably loose. When the car gets slower, it's probably because the wire fell off so vtec turned off.

I've checked and its definintly not coming off. Like I said i only get the code in really high rpms at high load. If I turn the car off then the code goes away. I can still hear vtec engage.

Could this have anything to do with my tightening my alternator belt the other day because it was squeeling?

You know I had a similar problem when I first went turbo... for the damn life of me I can't remember what the solution was. I'll post if I remember... sorry
Until then, bump for you!

There isn't a section called 'VTEC System Malfunction' - someone hit the enter key as P1253 and 1259 are both for VTEC.
You had mentioned in another thread that you had to tighten the alternator belt - perhaps there is some coincidence between that action and this code. Perhaps your alternator is on its way out.

yea i'm gonna try loosening it today and see what happens. Any idea why this is related to the vtec spool solenoid code though?

Ok well loosening it didn't work. It just made the belt squeel. Now that i tightened it back up it still squeels so it looks like its time for a new alternator belt.

well i ran a wire to the vtec solenoid and it clicked so i guess that is working fine. Whenver the cel comes on vtec is definintly disengaging. Then it won't turn on after that until i turn the car off and reset the cel.

Well i figured out what it is today. My ecu has something shorted out in it. I tried my buddy's ecu with my chip today and it runs great. I think this guy's prelude i was tuning shorted something out in my ecu when i was datalogging with it.
