TO ALL BOOSTED EF OWNERS!!!! I NEED YOUR HELP!
ok so i have an ef sedan and i put a t25 turbo on it.. and boom awesome one problem the the front subframe is in the way and i cant even put a down pipe on it! i tried flipping the whole turbo around and now im gonna have to make my intercooler piping do a complete 180 to connect to the turbo!....
basically i wanna know...
will running that 180 in the piping screw up the air flow.. turbo lag.. not as much boost?
or should i just cut into the front subframe to make a down pipe fit????
any advise would be awesome! please help me out.. what did you do to yours.. post pics and advice! thanks everyone

op: i haven't boosted my ef so i can't tell you how best to route the intercooler piping. you could always upgrade to a different traction bar and then you'd have more clearance for the dp.

Re: TO ALL BOOSTED EF OWNERS!!!! I NEED YOUR HELP!
did all of the above, cut front crossmember(radiator clearance) rewelded, cut frame(intercooler piping), cut bumper reinforcement(big *** intercooler) rewelded, no major problem yet, space was kinda tight for an ef compare to other honda like eg or ek, alot of custom modifications, as for 180degree intercooler piping, everybody did the same right? i have an 90degree before the 180, it still works for me.

Dude, your in the wrong web forum. real home made turbo dot com
Also, if your trying to stay OBD0 with a turbo set up your gonna have difficulty running a good program that has any sort of support for it. Turbo Edit is what i used way back when and it had its glitches. Do your self a favor and go with a chipped p06 or a P28 and run OBD1. Many more programs available for your tunning needs.
As far as your DP and Charge pipes. Your gonna have to do what ever it takes to get them routed. EF engine bays are crampedVS EG's and EK's so you have to get creative. What maifold are you running? HF with an adapter plate or a Ching chong meow???

don't cut frame. there's a thing called structural integrity and cutting the frame will definitely sacrifice this. people do turbo setups in EFs all the time without cutting the frame. either get traction bar setup or buy the correct turbo manifold.
why people will risk safety just to go fast is beyond me. the front cross member acts not just as a radiator support but also absorbs a good deal of the impact in a front end collision. if you cut it, you make a weak point and it will not absorb the impact but will fail and the impact will be distributed over other areas of the car causing more damage to the car and possibly yourself as well.

you can cut it and box in what ever you took out. but for the most part you shouldnt have to cut much.

^good point. But it also helps with traction! Thus the name traction bar. U will suffer with evey aspect of driving ur car, especially in the rain. Just redo ur turbo from the manifold up. Measure and measure again. Put thought into the path of flow. I guarantee that u will be more pleased if u think it out

its must be something new going around. maybe it came over with SARS.
YOur in An Ef when it comes down to it. If you run into a car any bigger than yours your gonna suffer no matter what traction bar or X member you run. Just dont drive like an idiot and watch the road.

you could cut it and box it in, yes, but about 1 in every 100,000 people actually do that.

Re: TO ALL BOOSTED EF OWNERS!!!! I NEED YOUR HELP!
for the record...
1. i am NOT lazy.. ive done more then enough research on this topic and cant find a post anywhere....honda tech has millions of posts..i simply asked him to link it to me because he knows of it so **** off...
as to everyone else i truely appreciate the imput...
i AM already obd1 so im really not too worried about it... its a z6 converted to obd1
i am using a HF manifold and when i bolt the t25 on im goin to have to cut into the subframe a little bit in order to get it to fit....
i wouldnt mind purchasing a traction bar but do they make them for the ef sedan??? is the ef hatch and ef sedan subframe the same?
where ever i do cut into the metal i plan to basically "box in" the down pipe by welding in new metal by doing this i dont see it being too big of a problem as far as saftey goes
