After 15 years, I want turbo!!!
Hey guys! After 15+ years of wanting to turbo my '00 Civic Si, I'm finally acting on it. Im an older Honda Tech member and a lot has changed since I frequented the forums 10+ years ago. My car hit 90k miles and I need to do the timing belt, and so I figured lets put some piston and rods in while Im at it. So for the most part, it will be a stock head, eagle rods, arias 9:1 pistons, arp head studs, ACL main and rod bearings. I will be running Hondata s300, walboro 255lph pump, AEM fuel rail, still not sure on what size injectors....I really need help finding the right turbo. Last time I check, the t3/t04e was all the rage....but it looks obsolete now, or at least turbonetics is. My goals are realistically 350 to 400hp+ if thats attainable on stock cylinders. Otherwise whatever I can safely push with the hardware I have. Ive been doing a lot of research, but it looks like no one does a "basic" build anymore, especially with a B16a2.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: After 15 years, I want turbo!!!
I wouldn't push it too much with stock internals.
You'll make 300whp reliably on 93. Anymore and you'll need forged pistons and rods.
The t3/t04e will get you there like mentioned above, but there are better and more expensive alternatives out there.
If I had an EM1 I wouldn't do more than lower it and some nice wheels.

They would hold up to that power level on all stock internals, its been done before, but not recommended. It's all in the tune.

Thank you for all the replies guys are there any other suggestions on what turbo I should get or should I just stick with the Old Reliable T3/to4e?

This turbo is an excellent option. I'll be running the bb variant myself.
Hunter Turbocharger
What fuel is it being tuned on? This will dictate what size injectors you will need. Also if you plan on running e85 stick with ~10-1 compression, it will help the midrange on that little 1.6

Also, if you haven't bought pistons or assembled the bottom end, do yourself a favor and go 10-11:1, not 9:1
Injector sizing depends on fuel. If gasoline, then 720-880cc will be fine. If E85, then 1000s

at this point you may want to get a bit more specific in your goals. not knocking shodans turbos but if you want 400+ you will need to step up to a silver surfer or a similar size from another company and also accept slower response time. I was in the same boat I wanted 400+ otherwise I would have gone Hunter, quite a few builds just this week are using the hunter hopefully those users will share the results sometime soon.
from what I have seen 350-380 HP is kinda of a breaking point for the smaller turbos, quite a few out there that do 350-380 and then theres other units that will give you 400-450 or so. Ive been wondering about the turbonetics 5454 but havent seen any figures on a b series as they dont seem to be very popular. (turbonetics in general)
400+ silver surfer/Gt3076R comes to mind
You should probally have a look at lsjokers thread as he also uses a b16 he has quite a bit of data on different turbos and his journey to 400+

good info, of course theres alot of variation between different dynos. I would think you have more headroom since your only at 12 PSI

Lol no kidding man. It's a slippery slope, I think we'll if I'm already taking the head off maybe I should just go ahead and do Pistons and rods, oh the heads off so I need valve springs and retainer, all this stuff is already going to the machine shop maybe I should just send it off to get sleeved... Haha it's never ending. Just gotta know how far you wanna or need to take it for your goals I guess.
