imo, its up to your preference. the innovative is pretty big, the aem (assuming you are talking about the guage type) fits in a guage pod, has the controler built into the guage, has a selectable output for different voltage ranges and has an rs232 output that you can datalog with hyperterminal. the innovative has better datalogging options.
the basic innovative is 350$, throw in the inductive rpm pickup for 100 bux, add 60 for the analog guage and 8 for the cable to connect the guage.
we sell the aem guage type for $420 and the non guage type for 335$
im not sure which sensor the innovative uses, but we sell the replacement for the aem sensor for $110

$420 for the guage type....WOW thats the best price I have seen yet, I need money in a bad way, I just have to keep in mind graduation is around the corner and 5 yrs of school will be over!!! and then comes full time job with money to maybe afford one....I love aem and the things they do, it brings a tear to my eye.....

Re: aem or innovate wideband o2! (sol2nr)
I haven't seen any info as of late on the AEM unit since I saw the debut pics on here a few months back...but $420 is not bad. has anyone/anywhere reviewed it yet??

I'd consider the AEM offering. You will get more support from AEM trying to interface two of their products, as opposed to linking up a 3rd party product to the EMS.

i can get some more detailed pics for you guys, we have not installed one yet, but it uses the same technolgy as the standalone wideband which works very well

jdogg, does it interface with a PC in any way to display the graphs(a/f output) or do you need some sort of other component to do that(I saw you mention "hyperterminal")? also I don't suppose it can log RPM v. A/F??(didn't see anything about that)

Does the guage type have a narrowband Output? Says on teh site that the Box one has the 0-1V out, but doesn't mention the guage one having it.
Can you get a guage for the box one?

Re: (b18bturbo)
as far as i know it can only log AFR. i havent used one yet... ill get more info as we start using them
you would have to get a serial connector from say radio shack and wire the connector up.. the instructions tell you how, its pretty simple.
the guage type does have a narrow band output, as well as a few others.
currently you cannont get a guage for the old wideband setup
im am trying to talk aem into offering an addon that will allow you to data log load, afr, rpms, etc through hyperterminal.. we'll see though
one more pic...

if you're worried about still getting a signal to an oem ecu then just weld on a new bung for the bosch sensor...assuming that's the reason you'd need a narrowband out

A/F without RPM is useless however, so I'm sure they made some provision for this.
If you're interfacing it with an EMS, the EMS will be able to graph the A/F vs the RPM vs MAP, etc.

Andy - I wanna be able to take it between the Sol and the Hatch, so i'd rather just have something that can go in the factory O2 location and have a 0-1V out aswell.... Dunno if when you disable O2 (open Loop) with hondata if it'll throw a CEL or not)....
Did you ever get your techedge working?

Re: aem or innovate wideband o2! (lazerus)
aem rates their sensor to last for 62,000 miles with unleaded fuel, about 1/3rd that with leaded fuel, so unless you smash it or run leaded fuel all the time then a replacement sensor shouldnt really be an issue... i believe the innovative uses a similar bosch sensor, so the lifespan would be about the same

Re: aem or innovate wideband o2! (JDogg)
they all uset the lsu4.2 sensor which can be had from gm partsdirect for cheap price so its not really a big deal to leaving it running in the o2 bung
