Advice on my JRSC'd ITR build
I've been reading around the forced induction forum and what not trying to find the right path to follow but I figured I would make my own thread to get some direct answers/advice. So far what I have is a JDM ITR motor that is basically stock minus S2S1 cams which I'm told to get rid of so my first issue is what cams to replace them with? I've been reading that an idle setup seems to be a GSR intake cam and a ITR exhaust cam... if some I can get that for a very cheap price. Below I'll list what I have so far and hopefully I can be given some suggestions to point me in the right direction.
97 JDM ITR
JRSC Kit for B16/B18C5
Stage 1 Upgrade kit from JRSC
JRSC Fuel Pump
Hondata Gasket
Competition Clutch Stage 4 with 12lb flywheel
GSR Intake cam
ITR Exhaust cam
Toda cam gears
Kamikaze 4-1
Buddyclub Spec II
RC440's
Hondata S300
Endyn breather kit
Thats all I have purchased so far. I'm not really sure on what to do about fuel yet and I'm looking into a Hondata S300 system so I can bring it over the Jeff Evans at the end of the winter. Also I'm curious to know about what kind of header to run as well as if a LSD tranny is needed like I'm being told by some locals. If I'm forgetting anything please feel free to add your knowledge/advice/suggestions whatever. Just looking to put something together that will be a blast to drive and not have to worry about really breaking. The goal is 230whp i guess you could say but I have no idea what to expect and I hope I'm not aiming too high. Thanks
Another quick question I had is will the JRSC thermostat that is supplied be enough at 160 degrees or should I look into something like a Spoon one?

Re: Advice on my JRSC'd ITR build (FBP_EM1R)
im a tech for acura in va.. we have a few guys at work with kinda the same set up.. try to find itr cams. if u are scared of too high of compression i would say scoop up an inlinepro 2mm head gasket and arps.. in my co workers itr it dropped his cr to around 9.8. which is fine for the boost you are looking for.
im running a jrsc on a gsr in a 94 si and i love it. they #1 thing we were all worried about was the rings. one of our guys stayed bone stock in his itr and ran 8 psi on his ride.. blew the ring lands completely off the piston.. stock honda rings arnt great. when u rebuild any honda i would highly suggest using hastings rings or an aftermaket ring of your choice.. my dealer send all their stuff to a machine shop who use hastings rings. in god knows how many years we havent ever seen an issue with them.
jeff evans is the way to go.
anyway seriously. drop some c.r. in the long run you will be glad you did. 11:01 cr is pretty high even though some do get away with it.. better safe then sorry imo.

Re: Advice on my JRSC'd ITR build (conceptEG)
I'm really trying to stay away from ripping into the motor like that at this point in time. Its not the compression that worries me I think the motor itself will be fine with the supercharger I'm just told the cams in there now are not going to work well at all with the charger. Will be hitting up Evans early next year for sure though once i figure out the rest of the build and get it all together and into the car

That's a lot of money for a tranny if I can't come across a B16 LSD tranny I think I'll be purchasing a brand new tranny from Acura

Re: (FBP_EM1R)
The LHT intercooler is the best mod you can do to a JRSC. I don't know what is involved in the JR stage 1 kit but don't let them try to sell you on a water injection kit or anything like that, get the LHT intercooler. You also are not going to need anything larger than a 550 cc injector. A small wet shot of nitrous also does wonders for a JRSC car, we gained about 60whp from a 30 shot on a shop project car I helped with a while ago.
The project car I worked on for my old shop ended up making 299whp with a stock gsr block, gsr int cam, itr exhaust cam, kamikaze header, JRSC with lht intercooler and a 30 shot. This was on about 9 psi.

Re: (hybrid_KJ)
At this point in time I don't have the money for the LHT intercooler setup. And as far as the injectors go the only reason I'm going so big is because I'm getting them for half the cost price since my friend is upgrading on his turbo setup and they have maybe 800 miles on them

I'm currently running JRSC, 8psi, Kamikazee 2.5 header, GSR cams, aquamist water injection, RC 440cc injectors, walbro 255lph pump, AEM CAI, 2.5" exhaust, Neptune and made 215whp 148tq, and was tuned by Jeff Evans. I starting looking into the LHT intercooler as that's the way to go with JR setups. The water injection helps... It dropped my iat temps 40-50 degrees, and I'm just using regular distilled water... My temps were around 160-170 in boost, compared to the over 210 degree temps without it. Here's the link to my dyno.

Nice, for the first few months I'm going to have to hold off on the cooler for the blower but I'm still hoping to make around 230whp without it and not worry about heatign issues.

you need a breather catch can setup tapped into the back of the block.

I would use a stock thermostat.... hondas are built to run at 180 degrees and you're not going to be racing at racewars in the desert.

I don't really have a suggestion coz your equipment seems to cover it all. I just want to share what's on my set up.
Bone stock '98 Spec JDM ITR motor
Base JRSC kit
stepper pulley +2psi
LHT intercooler
AEM EMS
440cc/min injectors
Exedy flywheel and organic full face clutch
Mugen Low temp thermostat
Maxim Works aka Jun & Buddy Club 4-2-1 header ('98 spec 4-1 is also excellent)
Insulating IM gasket from ebay
Great setup!

for simplicity reasons u might wanna ditch the rc740's and go with 440's or 550's because it will be easier to tune and make idle for your tuner. 440's are good til like 300whp and 550's to like 375whp.
