Default advantages/disadvantages of long manifolds

been thinking a bunch about doing a custom manifold for my built motor for numerous reasons but I have a few questions. What are the disadvantages of longer runners on a turbo manifold? Is there any advantages to this also? I've saw pics of a few bseries manifolds(not sure who makes them) that go straight off to the pass. side. just looking for some input weither or not it would be a good idea for power, spooling, weakness of manifold, etc.

overall complete design of the manifold is whats important. runner length is only PART of making a good manifold.

I think there was a dyno shootout of a miniram, a topmount and a ramhorn. Be damned if I can remember where I saw it.

The straight off to the side manifold I think is made by Hytech.

in a nutshell the manifolds with the longer runners (topmounts) will spool a bit later, make a bit less midrange, make better top and power and look very baller.

money and good design, good collectors, good flowing, lower backpressure compared to a log or cast mani, topmpounts r nice for turbo access, hmt *****

this won't be a topmount. It will be a sidewinder for a kseries but built to specs so I can sit the turbo where I need it to be for the goals on downpipe,ic piping, etc. The company that will be building my mani built my current one and they build them all the time. They make great designs and I just wanted to see what the advantages/disadvantages were. It will be sidewinder style but longer on the side of the motor instead of having the turbo sit right infront of the brake ms.
