I've been breaking in my clutch for about 200 miles and all of a sudden it starts making funny screeching noises. I have an Action 2MD clutch and almost everytime I take off from a stop the clutch would make a very loud screeching noise. Like "eeeeeeee". Is this a common problem aftermarket clutches have? I asked my friend who also has an aftermarket clutch and says he has the same problem also. Has anyone else encountered this?

I have the same noise with my Action but it started up long after the break in.

William, we are going to have to meet up because I want to hear this noise. My Action clutch is making a noise as well and just want to figure out if its the samething.

I have the same noise. Does it sound like a mini burnout? My Action 2md clutch actually didn't make any sounds at all and was just like stock till the damn thing finally broke all the way in lol. Now everytime I take off in 1st to 2nd the sounds like a mini burnout, but I'm not spinning the tires at all lol. I am gettin used to it.

probably didn't let the throwout bearing break in as properly as you should have and now it's on it's way out. Also, some retarded companies actually give you a plastic sleeved TOB so that it breaks down shortly after install.

does it also do it at idle while out of gear and then goes away after you press in on the clutch pedal somewhat?

I have the exact same sound in my action 2 MD its almost like a burnout sound I have more than 3000 miles on mines too

I would just beat the **** out of it until it goes away. I like to get mad at things like that and abuse them into complying with me.

Do a couple 5k launches to burn the face clean. If it doesn't comply, just keep beating it harder. Eventually, it will learn who it's master is

Actually took the motor out a few days ago and inspected everything including the throw out bearing, it's just fine.

YOUR TRYING TO SLIP THE CLUTCH too much!
mine does the exact same thing but only if i really try to slip it/ give it too much gas and a softer release. (its just the pads squeeking)

i find the best engagement is... drive to say 4k rpm push in clutch..let off gas and just let the clutch out a nice pace. the rpms land in the right spot and its a smooth/not to harsh of an engagment.

I broke in the clutch for about 600 highway/local miles so I did break in the clutch propertly. It still made that horrible noise after the break in procedure. But the following weekend, I went to autocross and drove the car hard. The squeeky noise seemed to go away. I think launching my car and shifting at high rpm got rid of the material that was creating the squeeky noise. Now my car only squeeks ever so often.

There is a thread in the archives about this, seemed like people would alleviate the problem by doing exactly what you guys are recommending - launching hard a few times. I have had the same noise with my 2MD but got used to it, it got better over time and I think as I got used to driving with it. I'll be buying another 2MD in the not too distant future, great clutch despite the noise.

V-SPEC 1

That's weird, I just put a ACT street lite flywheel, 6 puck disk and heavy duty pp on my friend's car and 300 miles it started squeeking. It only does it from 1st and 2nd from like dead stop. I hope this crap will go away. It's bothering.

I had the same problem with my ACT 6-puck, Then I changed it to a Exedy cuz I didn't like the 6-puck at all. Exedy never made any noises, I did put alot of good quality greese on the throw out bearing shaft and the clutch fork, I think the clutch fork and the bearing might be making that noise.

I had the same setup as above in my car now except with xtreme pp and had no squeeky at all.

guys, is this sound starting WHEN the clutch is fully engaged???

say you start form stop in 1st then engage it then when it's fully engage and you press the gas slowly, it makes this periodic squeak noise??

Squeaky noise, checking in. ACT HDSS. I have about 10,000 mi on it before it started doing it, and it only does it when its VERY cold in the mornings in 1st gear.

It works!!! the mr squeaky is gone for now. I put the car in 5th gear, rev it high, and slowly release the clutch for a few seconds and its gone. No more mini burnout for now anyway.

I am sure someone else will give a more technically description of this. The noise is intermittent. It comes on after there has been a buildup of "crap" [insert technical description here] on either the disk pads or the flywheel. Also you are prob. driving like a pus when it happens.

Drop the clutch a few times to burn evertyhing off or don't try to slip it so much.

I have the same thing too..2md, it only happens when i slip it a little too much though. Yes...now i can go out and not feel bad about doing lots of clutch drops.

Sounds like the pads have glazed over a little bit from too much heat caused by too much slipping of the clutch.

That explains why you can get rid of the problem by driving the clutch hard; the hard use removes the small bit of glazed material.
