Default about runnin open dump on with my tial 38mm wastegate

When I'm running open dump.......and i bolt the wastegate to the manifold, can i just leave other end straight open...or do i HAVE to have a pipe point towards the ground. I was just going to run open dump for a few weeks....i though itd be fine to leave side wastegate just straight open or no?

you can run open dump as long as it doesnt fry anything. If its is pointing towards ac you will burn **** up its better to weld a pipe to the dump flange and be done.

Don't do it. It will make your whole engine compartment black (at least) and at worst, it will melt things. I went and ran my car at the track with it like that after I put it together (didn't have a dump tube) and I still regret it. EVERYTHING (including the INSIDE of my left headlight housing) is ******* black. I have a set of blue headlights in... the right one looks blue and bright, and the left one looks like ***. Don't do it.

Good luck.

PS- you can buy a peice of flex tube (like 1.5" id) for like $12 @ an autoparts store, they call them exhaust repair kits. It's perfect, and flexible.

I have seen the exhaust heat from the wastegate melt/blow out a couple rows of peoples radiators before.

IF you do not boost you can drive it ok for a while, if you have AC still for the love of god put some type of header wrap on them before your burn through them at least.

Any boost without dumptube is gonna melt something you didn't want melted.

Mine dumps straight to the soil......it is only loud when it is open. Meaning once you reach your desired boost it will open to relieve exhaust pressure on the turbine hence controling boost.

I made one out of a piece of metal plate I had. I did happen to have a job in a metal shop, at the time, though

you can get them flangs on ebay for cheap. Anything that is loud will be annoying soon enough.
