Default about my D-series set up...

Well I am second guessing myself and i was wondering what you guys thought about this.

•d16z6 (total rebuild; acl bearings, new pumps, new belt)
•str block gaurd (installed before the boring)
•srp 9:1 pistons (.01 over to clean up the 80,000 miles on the sleeves)
•LS integra rods all machined to work with my engine (they're already done)
•greddy tdo4-15g kit with small intercooler (looking at 12-14psi max- 10 daily)
•turbo XS type s BOV
•dsm 450's / smc
•walbro 255 pump (dont know about using this)
•full obd-1 conversion
•stock head (rebuilt)

All of this goes in a 89 CRX si. I am not looking to break any records. I want a fast car for a decent price. I ran most of this setup on my del sol before i wrecked it. SO i wanted soemthign lighter, so i dont have to fight the weight.

things that WONT happen; I am not going to sleeve my block, or run a different turbo. (or swap)

? are my rods going to be enough to do what i want? i dont want ot do over kill, but i dont want to destroy my new engine by beign TOO cheap.

? am I leaving anything out? or doing somethign wrong?

I think that is everything so thanks in advance for your help.

Looks great, the only thing i'm kinda doubting would be the ls rods, you can run that much boost on them, but for how long? Anyone????

thats my thoughts, I have heard of plenty of people running with ls rods in to the 250hp range. (thats what i am speculating) but i wonder if i should sell and get eagle rods even though they are more expensive.

Yeah, if i were you, i'd go with some Eagle rods...$325 shipped (the lowest prices i've seen)

I'm sure your LS rods could take 14-15psi, but like someone said earlier, for how long? You might as well get it done right the first time, while your engine is apart. Then you shouldn't have many worries.

Stock sleeves @ 10-15psi? I know its possible, but again, for how long? Maybe i missed it, but what are you going to use for tuning?
Goodluck!

.01 oversized pistons? They don't make those do they? Usually .25 or .50, for your case I think you'd just use stock bore pistons with honed cylinder walls right? The rings will take up the gap? Can someone else confirm this?

they are .010" or .2mm commonly called "10 over"

i dont imagine the'll take much off the walls esp. with the tighter clearances. I will let thte machien shop i trust make sure everything is nice and striaght.

would my setup be better suited if i went 10psi daily (sometime 12psi)

12psi race day or when its really nice?

does 12psi sit better with people when i have LS rods and stock sleeves.?

i believe turbopanda has a cheap hybrid piston/rod package that will allow you to boost over 15psi daily on a D16..

give him a pm!

polish the rods (removing the castings on the spines of them) and then shotpeen them. they should hold well after that. where have you had them machined for the D series?

I think u should be just fine for your goals. Last year I ran a stock block D16Z6 with the greddy kit and blue box and 310's at 10 psi on pump gas. It made 212 whp and 190 tq. Stock ignition, ZEX 59300 cam, and cometic hp headgasket with ARP headstuds. 1 degree retarded timing, on pump gas 92 octane. It ran perfectly, no problems whatsoever. The results are in my sig.

Over the winter I built the motor almost identically to what u plan on doing. So far it's running perfectly, but I haven't got the chance to really boost it yet. Here's what I did:

Stock rebuilt head
Arp Headstuds
Cometic HP Headgasket
SRP 9.0:1 pistons (0.25 over)
Block Guard
Eagle Rods (notched the block)

I plan on 12-15 psi of boost and then maybe adding a nitrous setup on top of it. I really like the quick spooling greddy turbo and will not switch to a bigger turbo. I'm sure that the LS rods are fine for 10-14 psi of boost.
