About to get my h22a block built? Advice needed please
Hi guys,
I am about to send my h22a block off to be built up.
The parts I am going with are as follows;-
CP pistons (9:0:1), Crower Rods, Darton Sleeves, ARP head bolts. The engineers use ACL bearings and I shall also be getting a standard compression cometic headgasket. I can swap out the crower rods for Eagle rods to save a little money but was a little unsure of the quality difference? Im quite a believer of you get what you pay for. Can anyone shed some light on this? I hear there good for 500HP which is my MAXIMUM HP goal for now.
Is there anything Ive missed or should I say anything else the block could benefit from whilst in the shop. I believe they are polishing the crank as part of the quote provided.
Please post your comments/advice
Thanks in advance

Here is how I look at things.....I am pulling the motor, building it, and I dont want to rip it out again, I belive in doing things right the first time, even if that means getting the rods that are stronger, because, you are already putting alot into the motor, just spend the extra 2-300 for the better rods, it will make you feel better when you are making alot of power knowing that you got the stronger parts. I spent the extra money for Pauter rods over the eagles, and I know wheather I'm making 300 or 700hp I am going to sleep better knowing that I got the good stuff. But thats just me.

Re: (BB6-213)
Very true! couldnt have said it better myself
In regards to any parts missing have I captured everything needed?
Darton Sleeves
CP Pistons with rings
Crower Rods
ARP head bolts
Cometic Head gasket (Std. compression)
ACL bearings (rod and main)
I guess im just trying to avoid any susprises that push me over budget. Please bear in mind this is just a bottom end build up I shall attack the head at a later date.
Thanks in advance

Re: (BB6-213)
Ive heard of people doign that more so the oil pump it seems. How much do they go for roughly? oil pump? water pump? I may add it into my build budget as I have one of the ealier h22a models (late 1991)
Its funny how gaskets and things are forgotten, I wasnt even aware there was a bottom end gasket unless your meaning the oil sump gasket?
Thanks

I am takling about the OEM gasket kit, which includes things like crankseal. cam seals, and all gaskets, becuase you will want to replace the gaskets on the head also, I got mune from Prostreetonline for like $130. And I got a new oil pump and water pump for $200 from Earl, you also may want to consider eliminating the balanceshafts since the motor is out, and there is a kit on here for like $70 or so, you would just have search. I would recommend doing it.
