Default About to get head work done but have some questions...

Before I go on, I've been researching all morning because I knew absolutely nothing whenit came to head work, porting, polishing, yada yada.

I'm getting a port&polish, 3 angle valve job, upgrade the valve springs and retainers (to support 8,000 redline), bowl port and honing.

This is for a turbo Integra LS application car.

My questions being:

Since I'm only going to about 8,000 redline at most, what valvesprings and retainers are recommended?

The intake manifold; I've heard the Skunk2 and the JG Victor X manifolds flow well, but are they necessary? Will this be very restrictive if I leave the stock IM on? Would it be pointless to have this headwork done to not upgrade the intake manifold?

Is there anything else I should get done while the head is in the machine shop?

stock intake manifold will kill you with a ported head. Get the JG for top end where the LS falls off.

I recomend Crower springs, and also recomend upgrading your intake manifold & TB. Take full atvantage to your ported head.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Victor X IM
Crower valvesprings

I'll look into both. I'm really leaning towards the Victor X from what I've read.

with that much $ spent on head work, that $ money can be spent on a used type r head to do a ls/vtec change over.

I hear that LS/Vtecs aren't very reliable. I'd hate to think about throwing boost in the mix.

Yeah the victor x IM is nice and great fit w/no modifications to it. I like the Golden Eagle. You didnt mention Cams or cam gear with your built head.

where did you hear that from? What part of town are you from? maybe i can show you some of my friends cars. They have b20 vtec, ls vtec, all boosted. It will be reliable and last as long, as long as you do it right the first time.

^^^^^BINGO!

ls/vtec blow because either they weren't tuned or they weren't put together correctly. Use the right parts, do it right the first time. If you don't cut corners and tune it, the ls/vtec is just as reliable.

I'm in Atlanta and I've never met anyone with a reliable, daily driven, ls/vtec.

I may have to look into it.

Anyone have any good links for info on the ls/vtec build?
