Default 98 dx turbo

my 98dx coupe 5 speed with 110k is my DD and love that its been reliable for me..knock on wood so i'd like to keep it that way but of course gain power. I'd like 220-250ish whp. Basically whats it going to take and whats it going to cost? I know you guys hate cheap ebay crap so i'd prolly skip that but don't need top of the line stuff as long as its reliable.

how much can my stock clutch/ tranny hold for HP? i think clutch is going bad now

Will i need new injectors for that much HP? i've read i think i've read about 440. Will i also need new MAP and i know i'll need tuning so theres prolly $300. I think i've read 6-8 psi is about max for my motor. What else can i do too build motor some so i can maximize a turbo( again keep in mind i'm on a budget here)

I'd like too do this for 2k but i'm thinking its gunna be 4-5k maybe more idk

thanks for the help sorry for noob everyday questions i looked through first 5 pages and stoped

I just did read through that. Here are my questions

1. Will my stock tranny hold 200-250whp? Upgraded clutch needed as mine is already going bad?

2. I will piece together a turbo, what can i expect to pay here for quality parts for total kit?

3. What engine internals do i have too do if i wanna run 10+ psi? if that is even safe

4. I hate the fart can sound and actually use my car for hunting. Can i turbo/mod car while keeping close to stock sound? When revving it up it can make alot of noise. I know i need the flow of exhuast, intake to maximize turbo

Theshodan, i have done some reading and not just the titles for my 98 civic dx build. lol i feel like im talking to my math teacher explaining i did spend more than 5 minutes trying my homework. anyway, how do you feel about a 42 48 T3? i've read they spool fast and my car is completely street fun but my goal is around 250-300 whp, or basically 12's in the 1/4. I feel this may be the limit of the 42/48? i know i would need a good fmic if i went with that turbo. What about a .60 trim I searched but still don't understand what i will need to do to the actual motor to support my goals? I'm not talking about injectors, fuel, tune, but more along the lines of pistons, head, etc? I don't mind spending 2-3k on my motor/turbo setup. Other things i will be getting are clutch(exedy), coilovers/sway bar.

For a D-series engine, that can do fine, but the problem is the internals of the car can't take 250whp, at least not for very long. That is why I believe that building the car with pistons and rods will assist you (I'm not a big vitara fan, but whatever floats the boat). The saab turbos (42/48) and Super 60 (Not 60 "trim") would be better suited for what you want to do.

There are a ton of options to pistons and rods, and as for the head, for that goal, there's really nothing to be done. Search the "Single SLAMs" thread on H-T via google (the search engine here is atrocious) and you'll see a variety of setups that could work for you. 2-3K for a budget isn't bad, but expect the 3K a bit more.

Here's the single slams link

yea i've searched that thread, there are so many builds its hard to pick one to follow. Heres my understanding of those two turbos. the super 60 would give me more top end but have little more spool lag. correct? Either way, with either of these turbos, pistons and rods(prolly vitara pistons/ eagle rods-seen that setup alot) i could reach my goal of 250+ and 12s?

a guy on here local to me in ny has a t3/t4 60 trim. Are you saying that turbo is too big for what i want?

thanks

You gotta slow down and read those builds, regardless of how impatient you seem. Those builds tell you the wrong way to do it as well as the correct way to do this build. The super 60 is a good torque creator with good rpm range. "top end" doesn't matter in 200-250 single cam operations, because you're not making that much power to matter. as for "12s", that's a driver modification that only you can perform with the rest of the car beside power.

The T3/T04E 60 trim is a big monkey for a single cam like that who's goal is only 220-250whp and though will make the power, you'll hate the responsiveness of the system. But if you want to chance it because of the awesome NYC deal go right ahead. Give it a shot.

You need to look at that thread much more carefully so you can think about future questions you're asking and get more effective feedback than me just repeating myself. (And I'm considered one of the nice guys on here...) ;-)
