Re: 94 accord ex turbo w/o intercooler (Teinman)
with the mileage u have on your car, it needs all the help it can get to not blow up. i would not recommend a turbo , but if u are going to do it anyway use an intercooler.

My suggestion?
Hit up the Forced Induction forum and read up there.
I don't know much about turbos but I have never seen one without an intercooler. I would imagine the performance benefits are much much much greater with it. So much so it'd be not worthwhile to have one without.

i dont really know about turbo's either ... im not sure but i think there are some stock turbo cars that come without intercoolers ... its not recommended of course ... but anyway an intercooler will definately give a BIG increase in power

Sorry man, but this has failure written all over it.
Yes, you will need tuning.
Yes, you will need an intercooler.
A good rule of thumb is however much you plan on spending make sure you have double that saved ! Thats a must !
**** is gonna break and most likely its not gonna take long being that the motor has 200+k. Get a compression/leakdown test to check how healthy your motor really is. A newer used motor is like 400 bucks... Also do some serious reading in the Forced Induction forum as mentioned above. Once youve read up a little ask yourself these same questions and youll be like
GL ! There's no better feeling than having a turbo Accord

Re: (FA5civicSI)
Some came w/o intercoolers. They're called dinosaurs, or if you're a Dodge guy, early Shadow ES's if memory serves me right - the amazing 66bhp per liter 2.2L motors. The intercooled models made ~79bhp/Liter. Your EX also makes 66bhp per liter and a D16Z6 makes 79bhp/Liter, just for reference...
Any intercooler will help, even a DSM sidemount. Most Hondas will have that cavity w/intake hole in front of the right wheel to stuff a Gen1 DSM sidemount in there.

Re: (FA5civicSI)
some greddy kits are non intercooled ,but i would def not drive it without tuning . if your peicing the kit together why not atleast pick up a cheap OEM side mount off a factory turbo car.
edit:i just noticed the guy above me said the same thing seconds before i did

greddy kits don't come with an intercooler. but the kit only runs at 6 psi. i ran my car without an intercooler on the greddy kit for a week and then i got one and made a huge difference plus it's a lot safer having one.

just top end. really don't even need to touch valve springs, retainers etc for 300 whp but i wanna be a safe. plus it really isn't that much money to do them and having a heavy duty mechanic as an uncle really comes in handy
