Default 93 integra running a t25 hits 5lbs of boost and falls flat on its face

93 integra t25 turbo 310cc injectors FMIC all that good stuff .... Apex AFC. basicly when you take the car out for a test drive its running good but as soon as you get into it and hit about 5lbs of boost its like some body turns the ignition off the car then you let off and its fine. it runs great to 5lbs. RPMs dont matter. we put our fuel pressure guage on it and its got 32 psi at idle and 39psi when throttled up. that is low according to our all data system but we cant find anything wrong with the fuel system. we do have a walbro pump sitting at the shop and might throw that in. any ideas what would cause it to just drop dead at 5lbs of boost ?

maybe it goes super rich? maybe the spark blows out but I have never seen that at 5 psi. gap the plugs to .028 to see if thats it.

ok I will try that when I get over to the shop tonite. I cant see why it would be going super rich but i guess it could be I think were gonna unhook the AFC and see what it does with out it. I also need to check the wiring on that cause slim did a while ago and were not sure if he used the right diagram. I dont see what would cause it to drop spark at that boost level but its possible if the gap is way out who knows when the thing was last tuned up....... damn I hate getting into these things half way through the project

1) Don't even think of running it w/o the AFC hack.

2) Check for boost/exhaust leaks.

3) Check wastegate for spring rate.

4) Got a wideband?

My guess is that you're running lean. What is your AFC settings at?

set to a 20% increase after 3000 rpm or 25% throttle. what should we have the timing set to ? he just ordered a wideband for it so we can see what its putting out that way.

Wait, so you have it INCREASED? You are using the AFC hack, right? Otherwise: I suggest reading more on the AFC hack if you haven't already. 310's would need different settings, as compared to the DSM 450's that most people run.

Ignition should 2-3 degrees retarded. Get a wideband ASAP!

you don't want to be increasing much of anything, that will make you throw a check engine. Because the ECU will interpret it as seeing boost. It should actually be around zero or below, maybe with some check vavles so you don't throw a code. That is odd.

With the typical DSM 450's and resistor box, most people see okay results running -40% across the board. 310's and I'm assuming -30% across the board to get a baseline and tune from there. But get a wideband to actually find out what's happening, otherwise you're just guessing.

thanks for all the info so far guys. I am not a honda owner so this isnt my cup of tea since I know very little of the workings of there fuel systems.
