93 delsol built turbo will not idle
Hi guys, I just registered with this site as I am in need of some help. I have built a couple of boosted integras and had a friend come to me with his delsol. He wanted it built to handle some pressure. So of course I was down and built the d15b7 bottom end with 137.5mm forged rods and srp pistons( with ARP 2000 rod bolts and OEM main bolts). Went with a z6 head with everything in spec just cleaned it up with all new seals(stock cam and springs). ARP head studs and a cosmetic head gasket. This combination brings me to about 10.5:1 compression. For now all he had are some 370cc injectors from a DSM and stock Honda map. I am using crme pro and always had good luck with it. My last integra I had 1000cc I'd injectors and had no problem idling. Also I used a z6 timing belt and a d15 cam gear and I am half a tooth off which is common due to the deck height. When running I am at 13-14 AFR. And once the gas is pressed the rpm drop to nothing or it will surge and then stall. My vacuum is about 18-19in. Could this half a tooth cause this concern? Also no bumps in my maps between cells (timing and fuel), and about 180 psi on my compression test.
Help is appreciated, thanks

Thanks for the reply. We'll get one ordered up. I was wondering if any had done the mini me conversion with a stock cam gear, thus being half a tooth off and had any problems. Because every build I see they use a stock cam gear and don't have these issues.

Depends on which direction it's off but it should be fixed either way ... Personally I've worked on a car with the same setup with the dizzy slammed just to run with a p28 and it had no power down low smh

When you say stock Honda map do you mean the map sensor or the ecu?
If you haven't scaled the fuel map for the larger injectors then it definitely won't idle or run properly.
It also won't idle or run correctly if the timing is off.

Map sensor is what I mean and I have the fuel map scaled accordingly to the injector size. The new cam gear should be in by Thursday. I was just a little curious as to all the guys that have done the mini me write ups use stock cam gear with no problems?

Typically a mini-me is done with a d16 block and they have a significantly different height from the d15 block, hence the timing issue.

Update: installed can gear and got the vehicle timed were it should be.( retarded gear about 4 degrees to bring it back to stock). Timed my distributor. And ran out of injector, so we threw a set off I'd 1000 in it and an omni 3 bar map( with e85). My air fuel with a new fuel map is about 13-14 and I'm back to square one with the idle. I messed around with IAC compensation and it will fluctuate up and down and then be steady but give it gas and let off and it will die. Just the IAC suppose to stop the engine from dipping to low?

OK, why the actual **** are you futzing with the IACV in the software?
Remove, clean, and reinstall your IACV. Put the IACV settings in the ECU back to stock. Set idle speed according to the FSM procedure. Disconnect your charge piping until you have the engine itself sorted, and THEN start worrying about the boost.

Re: 93 delsol built turbo will not idle
I did attempt to set idle speed with the procedure but since it won't idle, it becomes an issue. Also why disconnect charge piping when the engine is in vacuum anyway. I have never had to mess with the IAC setting before, just thought I'd give it a try. I had it idle on 93 with a stock map at 15% iac so I didn't think much of it. But when going to the 3 bar and 1000's I had big issue with idle. I think I will take the IAC off and clean it or swap with a known good one. Thanks for the replies. I'll keep you guys posted and thanks again

Yes I am. I had the problem before but had my IAC at 15% for it to idle now once it warms up IAC is set at 50% just to idle( choppy)and still randomly it dies after throttling down. I just swapped a known good iac with same results. Is the fast idle valve just used when the engine is cold?
