Default 8:1 Compression On D16Z6 with T4(Same as T3 57 Trim TO4E .63 .60) Okay?

I'm about to purchase everything to complete my build and I was wondering if it would be fine to have an 8:1 compression on a built d16z6 motor with a t3/to4e turbo? Does anyone run about the same compression with a to4e? Are their any downfalls to it? What is your top horsepower with the setup?

That motor is gunna be quite slow out of boost. Off the top of my head I do not recall the stock compression, about 10:1? With some high boost you should be making some good hp numbers, nuttin over 300 I think. I guess that also depends on what you have for head work. If you plan on a daily driver Ide might sacrafice a little hp for a faster spooling turbo. I had that turbo on my h22a and I hit full boost at around 3600 with a 2.5 inch dwn pipe. With a 1.6 you prob be hittin good boost in the vtec+ engagement area. I Guess its based on what your looking for, the top end will scream on high boost with that turbo. I think the biggest issue is the compression ratio, personally I prefer 9:1+, but if you wanna up the boost and be safer on pump gas 8:1 is a good choice. That turbo isnt that big, so maybe, im just not too familar with how d series engines run with larger turbos....

I don't mind the late spooling at all. Yeah I am trying to keep it safe with the low compression on pump gas(93 octane). I plan on boosting about 5-10 daily driven and 15-20 pounds at the track. Lol, kinda of high but on my last setup hitting boost is addicting. As a last resort if a takes longer than usual to spool I will use those miniature 30 shot of nitrous kits. I will only be reving up to 6,500 rpm. My goal is around 300- 350 hp. I usually just drive slow and cruise. I need the turbo to merge in safely on the highway cause they decided to floor it(i've done it before).

8.5:1 CR here and love it..It doesnt feel slower out of boost at all..But i have a smaller turbo(T3 super 60)... I even ran the car N/A with that low of CR just to se how it would affect and actually it ran .2 faster than with the stock CR (9.1:1 stock vs 8.5:1) ...you can "adjust" spool time by just selecting the right diameter in the pipings... Bigger exhaust will spool faster as well as smaller charge pipes.. Id say go with 3" DP and exhaust and then play with the diameter of the charge pipe.

are you talking to me?

If so then how is it that you get 8.1CR on a Z6?... if youre planning on vitaras..the CR is more..8.5:1 and if you use a Y8 HG(2 layer) its around 8.7:1

yes i agree with fjt. just work out your piping to match. 3inch dp and maybe 2.25inch ic pipes. if you wanna go t3/to4e, maybe you should go with a .48a/r?

no the full race pinks car had a 57 trim .63 a/r and it spooled fully (30 psi) at 5500 rpm so i think 10 should be around 5000-5200rpm..

people on turbod16 are hitting full boost way before 6,500 on a to4e. i was just worried that compression may be too low. yeah i got a 8.3:1 calculation fron the zealworks compression calculator, but hey if its 8.5:1 thats just perfect for me. i was just filling in the worst case scenario part.
