Default 77mm D16 Headgasket Choice

Well. I dropped off my block at VaporTrail's shop yesterday and now i have to get a head, headgasket and headstuds for the assembly. It's a 77mm D16Z6 block and i been looking into the headgasket choice. i checked race engineering... they only had like 75 (stock) and like 76 and 78mm Cometic headgaskets. i was also recommened to get a SCE copper headgasket. What is everyone's opinion on headgaskets? Once again the block is a GE sleeved D16, 77mm bore, 9:1 compression. anyone know a good 77mm headgasket?

I prefer OEM gaskets. The GE overbored OEM would be the best choice for sealing.

Is the block O-Ringed?

Then I wouldnt use the SCE Copper Headgasket.I think your best bet is probably what boosted hybrid said.

77 or 78, that is really irrelevant.

GE recommends a OEM IF the machining is done by them. Mine was not machined by them and the person who built mine only uses cometic's.
Who did the machining?

ah ok... i thought the hg bore had to match the block bore. GE did the machining. Secret Services (VaportTrail) is doing the assembly so ill check with him on what headgasket he uses

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. Of course the HG bore must match the block bore. My point was having a 77 or 78 is really irrelavant as to what gasket you get.
Where the machining was done is what you need to go by (GE recommendation). Just get the OEM one matched to your bore size.
